Great article today by "Over the Hilltop" in the Casual Hoya! Excellent comparison and contrast of how the Hoyas have been playing with and without Whittington. The best thing about the article, for me, was the recognition--even though it did not say this explicitely--is that JT-3 is becoming one heck of a coach. Please include a link next time.www.casualhoya.com/2013/2/6/3955920/georgetown-hoyas-without-greg-whittington-analysis

www.nj.com/rutgersbasketball/index.ssf/2013/02/rutgers_close_but_cant_close_o.htmlAnd there was little recourse against it. That was how Porter turned the final five minutes and 42 seconds of a close game and upset bid by Rutgers, into his own personal highlight reel. The Hoyas sophomore forward scored 10 of his team's final 12 points and sent Rutgers further spiraling into a losing streak which has now reached eight games. "He's so disciplined and patient in his offense," Rutgers head coach Mike Rice said. "He just allows his teammates and the offense to come to him, so he gets open looks. The last one — a cut-post — (associate head coach) David (Cox) called it right in the huddle and told us what was going to happen. They just out-executed us right there. They out-toughed us."

Escape from New Jersey: Georgetown Grinds Out 69-63 Win at Rutgers, By OverTheHilltop QUOTE:But then Porter took over, nailing a triple then converting a fast-break feed from Trawick to keep the Hoyas again. As often happens at the end of games, the opportunities became fewer and farther between for Rutgers, as the Hoyas allowed just a single point over three Rutgers possessions. Just as typically, the Hoyas failed to score in response, leaving Rutgers down by just a point with under two minutes remaining.
Porter still wasn't done. A timeout with just 1:28 remaining gave JTIII the opportunity to draw up a beautiful set. Out of the break, Porter posted up on the weak side, gaining position so that a quick ball reversal to Starks, and a feed by Starks to Porter, allowed him to make a strong move to the rim. The play harkened back to a similar Porter-Henry Sims exchange at the end of the N.C. State loss that ended last season. Perhaps learning his lesson from Sims's unsuccessful kick-out to him, Porter used his post position to his advantage, making the basket, drawing the foul, and burying the free throw, putting Georgetown up four. On the next possession, he made two more free throws to keep the game out of reach, and Hopkins iced it from the line.
