Supposedly those are for the Cincinnati away game.

Finally, making a trip to DC for this one. I expect SJU to come in on a nice winning streak and with some motivation after we kicked their butts so badly in MSG.

It appears that the CBS affiliate in Boston believes that it is in ACC country (thank you again Boston College) and will be televising NC State-Miami instead of Georgetown-St. John's. For me that means going to the Cape to to get the CBS affiliate from Providence.
Wonder whether this game will make it to CBS at all in the B7 era? No one will watch programs like Seton Hall, Providence and Depaul and the remaining four need to have up seasons to be games of interest for a national market.
It is why I am slower than most to give up on the possible option of renting UConn, Cincinnati, Memphis and Temple until they find a better home for football and would definitely not dip below Butler, Xavier, and Creighton which may or may not be sustainable as strong programs. In my lifetime, Providence, Depaul and Seton Hall have all had windows where they had relevant programs as did St Joe's, but it is easy for a brand to fade when an impact coach is lured away and you don't own a market of fans and a platform that is attractive to recruits. Owning a fan base in Indianapolis or Omaha or Providence is nice, but it ain't NYC which is owned by Syracuse and UConn more than St. John's.
Having the nicest house in the neighborhood is not the best way to build real estate value, but it is where we will be living so we should choose neighbors carefully to make sure they will be making prudent investments in their asset.

This is Senior Parent's Weekend at Georgetown. There will be a tailgate on campus prior to the game and there will be the Senior Auction following the game at the Hyatt. Hopefully, a good number of senior parents will show up and support the team.

But I'm still working on my first cup of coffee, so I have an excuse.

Our RPI is up to a very respectible 35, and SJU is 55 and Rutgers is 57. This a big game. SJU has played a lot better since we came to town and whupped them. If we can win this, and then get a week to prepare for a place we always struggle (Rutgers), I think we are in really good shape for the second half of the Big East.

WE give it all we got cause this one is a trap game. St. Johns is 6-3 in the Big East. Our next game after that is against Rutgers who, while very tough at home, as we all know, is 3-6 in conference and on a 4-game losing streak. How is this a trap game?

St. John's has won every game since playing us, but look at their schedule. They did beat Notre Dame, but the other wins were against DePaul, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and DePaul (in overtime). Those are games that St. John's should have won, so their 6-3 Big East record is a bit misleading.
As long as we play decently well, we should be able to win this one.

Still doesn't make sense that this is a trap game. The game after this one? Definitely a trap. Anyway, I'll let it go. Not really a big deal one way or another. As you implied, most important thing is that we play well, not who the opponent is or how they are trending.

At this point, it's impossible to even say what a trap game is exactly because the term is so over-used. I think some people simply use the term whenever we play a bad opponent, which is obviously not the intent of the term.

Yes, St. John's is 6-3. And USF is 1-7. Pittsburgh is 5-4. There are no trap games in the Big East. You have to bring it every game, every night. If the Hoyas stay focused, they should be all right. If they don't, they could lose to any BE team. GO HOYAS!!!! Beat the Redmen.

All of this is perfectly TRUE! But I think the concept works if you are not an obsessive compulsive literalist like BOZ c:)

How is this a trap game when St Johns is ahead of us in the standings? This is a huuuge game both teams are fighting for top tier status..

The reason I thought it was a trap game is, not because of any games after this (which I guess is the true meaning of a trap game), but because we handily won at the Garden, and we blew Seton Hall out our last game. If we maintain our concentration and go after the Johnnies from the tap, we should be okay; no taking teams lightly!

Not to douse the happiness too much, and I do think we should beat SJU at home, but there are some things that highlight that the recent streak is not necessarily our actual level of performance (but rather, we're on a bit of a streak).
If you look in BE play, we're #2 in 3 pt shooting -- which can be volatile. Are Otto and Markel (both above 40% and Otto's shooting insane from 3 right now) actually this good? Perhaps, but we're shooting 36% in conference play. That's not unsustainable, but it is the best part of our offense now, which is looking a bit more like it usually does.
More importantly, our great defense is being held up by things that are sustainable in most part - 2pt FG D, the best defensive rebounding in the conference (no, really!). But we're also the #1 3pt FG defense team by a long shot. At 27%.
That's not likely to hold. I don't buy into the teams can't influence it at all analysis, but it's clear that a rate of 27% of three from your opponents isn't all your defense. That's insanely bad.
Some of it is our opponents, and some of it is our D. And some of it wouldn't have mattered (The Hall usually shoots well but they were so bad it didn't matter). But with some likely close games ahead, that luck may not hold.
Hopefully, the offense can continue to develop to pick up the slack.
