I don't know if you saw it, but Wichita St was down 2 with 3 seconds remaining and they had one free throw. They intentionally missed it, got the rebound and tied the game up with 0.7 seconds. Vanderbilt then threw the ball the length of the court and perfectly executed the play for a wide open lay-up.
I don't know about you but I have NIT FEVER!!!!!!!!

Though not as sick as the play in the MN high school state finals. They were showing it on ESPN yesterday--Hopkins was trying to tie the game up (they were down two) and while they were trying to tip it in, on of their players got knocked on his back on the three point line. The ball then bounced directly to him, and he threw up a last second prayer (the buzzer went off while the shot was in the air) FROM HIS BACK and it went in to send the game to OT. The kid was laying on his back at the three point line and hit a game tying buzzer beater! Needless to say, Hopkins ran away with it in OT. Just unbelieveable. Probably the most amazing shot I've ever seen.

Non-existent D by Wichita State on the winning basket. Three guys near the top of the key, Vandy guy open under the basket.
Great finish, but Wichita blew it.

What a play! What a game! What a great time I just had making fun of one of my best friends who goes to med school at Vandy for not going!
Wichita State did exactly what they needed to do at the end, and it just wasn't enough. Sort of feel bad for 'em. Oh well, the NIT is great.
And I've said it before and I'll say it again, that arena Vandy has is just BANANAS.

Yes, I saw the highlight of that high school game, almost too ridiculous to be true. Unbelievable.
Wichita St. had 3 guys run at the guy at the top of the key, terribly misjudging the pass. I was kind of pulling for them too after they tied it up.TEXT

What could you possibly say by way of a locker room speech after that play if you're the WSU coach? That's a bizarre way to end the season, especially after executing the deliberate missed FT perfectly.
What a funny range of emotions that poor coach went through in about 2 minutes. He's clearly a screamer, as evidenced by his yelling at the ref for the no-call on the missed layup. And he's just a little jumpy, setting coach high jump records on the REBOUND of the missed FT.
And when he was shaking hands with Vandy's coach, I mean, he had that "so Editeded off all I can do is laugh" look on his face. I don't know what I'd do in that situation, probably take off a shoe and just start chewing on the leather.

It's good to see teams really into the NIT.

So Hopkins was out of our league, except maybe in hockey. I got to play against Larry Fitzgerald in football, Allan Anderson (at Michigan St.) in bball though. Hopkins would have run us off the floor. Getting dunked on left and right be De La Salle was bad enough.

Wichita blew it, and it should be a lesson to everyone on how not to play D with under one second remaining and a throw-in coming.

Not really, but he has a few similarities to his mentor, Larry Brown. Expect to see Turgeon coaching the Kansas Jayhawks some day.

That Vandy game was one of the strangest things I've ever seen- not just the length of the court layup pass but the missed FT that was rebounded for the tie. Never seen anything like that.
