that makes. the guy has had a long career and made a very very bad call. He has earned this chance to redeem himself. Most wouldn't have this chance but Cheney deserves it.

Most wouldn't have this chance but Cheney deserves it. he has had plenty of chances - he also threatened to kill john calipari...he is old and has lost it - he should have faded into the sunset - too bad that this occurrence will forever stain his otherwise stellar career.

Shimmy, c'mon, tell the truth. Hasn't everyone felt the same way about Calipari at some point? ;D
Although for me, there was a lot more hatred towards Edgar Padilla.

regardless of personal feelings of ill-will toward individuals, such an outburst makes the institution look bad - Chaney is going to have to endure some things in the next season that no 73 year old in their right mind should choose to endure...and it isn't a question of his standing up to the critics - he was wrong and he should have stepped down.

Certainly some stubborness involved, but I think that he has earned the chance to redeem himself, has done too much good over the years. An incredibly dumb move on his part that led to all of this, but I really don't think he envisioned someone getting hurt - although it should have occurred to him. Would not want to go through what he will next season - especially when they play at St. Joe's!!

I know everyone thinks Cheney is an icon and all and I really don't care too much about him coming back after the "incident" that has probably been overplayed at this point.
How about about dumping him because the team has been pretty darn mediocre the past few years. They have been 15-14, 15-15, 15-13, 16-13 over the past four years.
Maybe it's time for both him and the school to move forward.
Everyone talks about him being so great for kids and all...you can give him a job as an Assistant AD or something like that. Keep him around, but move on.
