ESPN.com is reporting he's out of UCONN this year. This is great. Wonder if him and his attitude are ready...

ESPN.com is reporting he's out of UCONN this year. This is great. Wonder if him and his attitude are ready... Who cares if he's ready (I doubt it). It weakens UConn a lot, thereby making it that much easier for us to snap our 10 game losing streak to the Huskies. Now if Gay wants to jump ship too, that'd be cool.

even though he will be a top 20 pick most likely..he doesnt even deserve to be a first rounder.

The guys quite lackadaisical, only plays when he wants to. Lots of talent but no heart.
If I were a UConn fan, Id have some mixed feelings. Youre losing a great talent, but the guy clearly cared only about himself and his draft stock, not winning or the Huskies.
Charlie V is the exact type of guy I wouldnt want to be a Hoya. For him leaving UConn, good riddance. Let Rudy and Boone enter the draft too.

UConn still has an impressive starting line-up. But, I bet next year is the year break that not-to-be-mentioned-again streak. Plus, the game against NC State showed Gay is weak defensively when guarding a faster, smaller player.

He should stay in college. He's going to be a 20-30 pick and a career underachiever. He still hasn't figured out his game. Well, one positive is all that NBA $ will enable him to buy some eyebrows.

That last sentence has me chuckling as I type...good stuff. But I think Villanueva will be a lottery pick. I say that as someone who doesn't follow draft rumors and has no idea if there are a dozen high schoolers and European players rated higher than him, but I find it hard to believe he could slip toward the end of the first round. There have to be at least a couple of GMs who will be more than happy to use a 7-13 pick on him. Time will tell, but my take is that UConn was an NBA farm team for him and that he will be a key guy in a team's rotation within a few years. I think the same is true for Rudy Gay, and it's a matter of whether he goes this year or next.

God, if he doesn't look like a classic Celtic's first rounder to me...well, actually last draft we did awesome, but we all know lightening doesn't strike twice....so I'm expecting a huge bust of a draft this year.

villanueva has got no heart - he already has a bad rep from when he worked out as a high schooler contemplating the draft - i wouldn't be suprised if he fell to the 20s -- he does have the natural gifts, but if I were a UConn fan, I would say good riddance - Calhoun obviously was fed up with his inconsistent play and he missed several of those FTs down the stretch against the 'Cuse in the BE tournament - he just doesn't have it...but he will be drafted

I can't imagine him not being a lottery pick. He has enough talent to mask the problems, and he wouldn't be the first high pick to have some attitude issues.

I think he’s a year away…
He definitely needs to work on his arsenal if he wants to seriously contribute to a team.
I don’t know anything about his economic situation, but if he could hold out another year, I think it would benefit him greatly.
I wish him well…
He is definitely not a lottery pick. He is also not ready to go. However, I'm glad the hairless wonder won't be menacing the Hoyas next year.

They'll still be formidable. Boone, Gay, Denham Brown, Marcus Williams, Price, Anderson, etc. etc.

He's a hairless freak, he is. We're allowed to make personal attacks on other teams' players, right?

He is hairless...that is unusual, even freakish.
I think you were just saying it like it is...definitely not crossing the line.

Do we really have to make fun of his lack of hair? He has a medical condition, give the kid a break. Can you imagine the uproar if Uconn or Cuse fans were making fun of one of our players for having an auto-immune disease?? sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=1848088"Basketball came naturally to him, and he even had the new look for athletes, promoted by NBA legend Michael Jordan in the '90s. But Villanueva's bald head and bare face have nothing to do with style. He has the autoimmune disease Alopecia, which causes hair loss. At age 10, he started losing his hair. Some of it came back when he was 11, but at 12 he was bare again and it hasn't returned since. Villanueva's athleticism helped him escape some, but not all, of the elementary school torments most of the 4.7 million Americans with the disease endure. His physical toughness on the blacktop in Queens was less important than the mental strength he needed to get through the stares and questions about his odd appearance. "

I think the UConn fan base's classless behavior over the years forfeited any right their players had to immunity from our barbs...
Besides he'll be a gazillionaire with plenty of time to kill on the end of an NBA bench next year...if he's bothered by our teasing, well, frankly, I'm certain he lacks the heart or mental game to make it.
