Apparently Whittington was our entire defense.

Love Otto and he's a great player, but I feel like Markel may be a better option in end game situations like that--gives the option of dishing to Otto and gives you Otto crashing the boards for an Offensive Rebound. Who knows......at any rate--this was a terrible loss. Let's see how they respond.

just a terrible performance overall. starks should have been coming off a screen the last possession. porter does not have the handle to go from halfcourt on an iso in traffic. inept offense again. lazy on defense the entire 2nd half against a bad team. this is an 8-9 win team in the BE this year at best.

As much as I don't love JT3's X's and O's out of timeouts - getting Otto the ball to make a play one on one is the right decision. He missed a jumper and lost control of the ball. Hard to fault anyone but Otto on the last two possessions.
We have no inside presence outside of Lubick. Whittington isnt a huge loss for this team because Bowen and DSR combined accumulate much of his offensive output. But the ineptitude of Hopkins and the obvious ineffectiveness of Ayegba will cost this team an NCAA tourney bid. The staff not recruiting a serviceable center on the roster is the biggest disappointment to me.

Two timeouts and we toss it to half court to a non ball handler and everyone stands and watches. This is a selection Sunday should have been game.

Our plays out of time outs are non-existent because the princeton offense needs 35seconds even if there are 10 seconds on the clock ... ugh Just not true. What's not true ... do we have one player who can create and take it to the hole?

I would prefer for JT3 to never take a time out. It never works. I agree. Has he ever drawn up an end-of-game play that's worked? The only times we have won late, it's been on a broken play where one of the players manages to pull something out. Yes, let's blame the coach for our best player dribbling off his leg. And fumbling a sure basket off an inbounds play (that I am pretty sure III drew up). Otto's numbers for the game look nice, but he did not play well and he made several key mistakes. And to answer your question, yes. Last year at Alabama. EDIT: And Indiana. Which was essentially the same thing we were trying to do tonight. The difference is Otto lost the handle this time. You can count the instances of all college coaches calling a "game-winning" play each year on your fingers. They all run the same "play" - give the ball to your best player and hope for the best.

The problem was more the fact that no one else on this team wants to take a shot. If it wasn't for DSR, south Florida may have had 4 guys guarding Otto.

Really tough loss and not a whole lot to be confident about headed into our next two, which are going to be difficult (to say the least).

How did we lose that game???!!! We outshot them 48.9% to 39.2% (38.9% vs 29.6% from 3), outrebounded them by 9. But they did score 6 more from the FT line. 15 turnovers to 4.

Terrible Play at the end of the game. Oh but I thought Georgetown doesn't run any plays. They read and react. No movement at the end of the game. None. The season is shot based on how it was coached in the second half. No Moses. Keep playing Hopkins and he is contributing nothing. I don't know what went on in the second half.

How quickly we forget Otto hitting the game tying bucket against Indiana.

I think the game was really lost when USF made all those 3-pointers (7?) at the beginning of the second half. That put us behind in a game that was ours to lose up until then. We had plenty of chances, including at the very end as about a dozen grumpy people have noted, but USF shot lights-out to make us play from behind the rest of the game.
Also, where was Markel tonight? It seemed like he was a non-factor. As was Hopkins. We seemed to be playing a team of 3 - Otto, DSR and Nate - with minimal impact from anyone else.

This particular team with these particular players need to run more in my opinion. I think Hayes should play 20+ minutes for defensive purposes mainly. (Don't let him look to score much, just do the dirty work). Can't be any non-productive than Hop and Moses. Get Domingo involved as well. i've always maintained that Porter should not be the go-to guy. ONE of the go-to guys for sure but not THE GO TO Guy. Look at how he creates his shots. I love him tho.
Geez. Can't take any possessions off; a team, any team can get confidence.

What happen to the basic offensive set. They had 36 seconds to run a play. There is no need to run isolation. What can't the plays that work during the game work at the end. I blame JTIII. RUN THE OFFENSE. Quit with the ISO. As much as I don't love JT3's X's and O's out of timeouts - getting Otto the ball to make a play one on one is the right decision. + 1 on Markel, mapei. No show. Not enough talent with Whit out to overcome a sub par game from Markel. Turnovers killed us.
