Did you have Mr. Thomas for English, lic?
Not surprised we're on Chukwu given the Jesuit connection - does sound like they don't want to mess around with assistant coaches though.

Adam Finkelstein @finkelsteinnerr 26 Apr Rutgers' Eddie Jordan, UMass' Derek Kellogg + assistants from Georgetown & Rhode Island watched Paschal Chukwu #phillyjamfest www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/3065/Saturday-at-the-Phillly-Jam-Fest.phpCBC big man Paschal Chukwu was been another popular name with college coaches this weekend. He was watched by new Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan and UMass head coach Derek Kellogg on Friday night, along with assistants from Georgetown and Rhode Island. That list only continued to grow on Saturday with coaches from Providence and others.

At Providence, he walked into a roster that included Vincent Council, Kadeem Batts and Bryce Cotton. So what? You're talking about that like it represents a championship roster in the Big East. That's absolutely laughable. This is a thread about Chukwu, and I have no idea why you take the opportunity to rail on a second year coach who has improved his team from the cellar to .500 for watching an area big man who is 7'2". It's just a downright stupid position to take. Teams get better by recruiting better, that sure seems like what Cooley is trying to do when watching Chukwu. I still think Providence should have hired Al Skinner, but I don't get why Cooley is being given the business for getting a crappy team with almost no regional or structural advantages back to .500. Taking this back to Chukwu, Prep beat East Hartford, after Chukwu made a go-ahead basket and blocked a shot in the final minute. He the proceeded to foul out trying to block a three point attempt which could have tied the game. Chukwu had 12 points, 10 blocks, and 9 rebounds. Prep faces Hillhouse on Saturday in the LL final. I have to say I'm shocked by the Cooley bashing in this thread. He has improved this team in every facet since he arrived, defense, offense, recruiting and most importantly in the classroom and personal accountability. He was and remains the absolutely perfect choice for PC. He took over a program that was the laughingstock of the conference, both on and off the court, including two players currently serving long sentences for felony assault of a fellow student and the APR was in the tank. Keno Davis was an absolute disaster. He improved upon that the 1st year which included a half year suspension of Kadeem Batts for an academic violation. last year the BE Coaches picked PC to finish DEAD LAST, he finished 9-9 even though Vincent Council missed half the year with injuries and at many times they had 7 scholarship players available. He has had two excellent recruiting classes in a row with last year getting stud Brandon Austin out of Philly over UConn and a pretty good player from Virginia named Rodney Bullock. In regards to this year, PC is the absolute leader for Chukwu and another top 50 kid out of Tennessee named Jalen Lindsey who all the big boys are recruiting. We are also in good with Abdul-Malik Abu, Jared Terrell, and Kaleb Joseph. Cooley is doing just fine and we expect to dance this year. Plus they just extended his contract and he is currently being paid $2,000,000 a year. Some of you may think he sucks which for the life of me I don't get but get used to seeing him, he's not going anywhere.

Friar, it would absolutely help strengthen the Big East to have Provy return to being a solid program, so most of us are hoping Cooley will continue to boost the program. I saw much of him at Fairfield as they came to Albany to play Siena and the MAAC tourney; he is intense, but he knows his basketball.

Prop Joe has been getting it done on the recruiting front no doubt! To bad you guys didn’t get to see Ledo suit up for a year, would have been nice to see what he could do..

Ledo was a risk we had to take, and I really appreciate Cooley opening up all of his practices to pro scouts to let them see Ledo. There was apparently one practice where Cooley ended it early and there was a bunch of Scouts on hand to see Ledo that were disappointed. Cooley worked Ledo out by himself afterwords for them and the kid put on an amazing shooting display that sealed his fate. Cooley is a good guy.

One more thing and this can't be emphasized enough, donations to the program are at an all time high and this is a direct result of the pride Cooley is returning to this program. They are getting ready to break ground on a brand new men's only basketball practice facility which when completed will put PC's facilities at or right at the top of the BE.
Without Cooley none of this happens.

I'm very familiar with PC's grounds seeing as I lived right across the street from it when I went to school at Bryant up there. Where are they putting this facility because there isnt a lot of room on that campus. Are they knocking something down?

They purchased a bunch of houses over there, and that's where they will be building it. Fund raising is going much better than expected so they will be making it even better than they had hoped.

Quote:“I watched a lot and have kept in contact with college coaches who recruited me,” said Chukwu. “I have been trying to see how schools use their centers and stuff like that.” He continued, “I am trying to see how they utilize their centers and see the strengths of the centers they have and how they try to use him. I just want to see how they win games and use their centers.” If this is what he's looking for to decide, then he's there for the taking. TTS on this one (whether he's the right choice or not).

Alumni went through a multi-million dollar renovation last year (air conditioning, state of the art score board, new seating, etc... This will continue to be used by the women. Schneider Arena is going through a massive renovation right now.
