Like SJU, the Friars have one of the conferences leading scorers. Also like SJU, they have some good athletes, but not good basketball players. Better coach though. Hopefully a similar Hoya victory.

Need to keep it up from last game. More Jabril, Aaron, and Moses.

This is the same Providence team that lost to Brown, BC, and by 10 to Depaul right? We obviously cannot underestimate any opponent but we need to play with confidence against Provy, with the same intensity we did today. We have to take it to them early. I thought Jabril's slam as the first score of the game really set the tone. I'm hoping they come out with the same type of fire.

I'd start Brilly whether Whitt is back or not.

I like this rotation with Whit added to it.
The recruiting draw for PC was obviously the chance to play where JT, Jr played.

Nothing is coming easy this year, particularly without Whittington. The kid has been up and down so far, but there is no way this team is better without him on the floor most of the time. He rebounds, plays tenacious defense and has the ability to go on scoring tears, though very streaky. What yesterday proved--hopefully--is that the Hoyas have the ability to bring some kids off the bench to give starters a rest or to replace players who are in foul trouble or just off their game. Let's get Greg back in the lineup and keep playing Moses and Bowen 4-5 minutes per half just to keep the same level of energy and intensity out there that we saw yesterday.

Id like to see Bowen get some more run in this game. He has had flashes of brilliance this season and will be, in my opinion, a large part of the team next year

It's also the "same Providence" team that for some reason Georgetown seems to struggle with at Verizon since III's been hired. Good news is that they win the games, but it's been a struggle--people forget about last year's slugfest of awfulness? That game might be high scoring for this year's group.

I'm not at all convinced that Providence has a better coach (and I don't think Lavin's very good). Besides getting a couple high profile recruits to commit in the last year, what exactly has Providence's coach accomplished? I know we kind of want him to be good so Providence doesn't continue to stink in the new conference, and I know the Providence fans seem to think he's great (likely in part to his hometown status), what proof do we have that this guy is any good?

Cooley was HC at Fairfield for 5 years with an overall record of 92-69; his record improved there every year with 23-11 and 25-8 records and 2nd and 1st place finishes in the MAAC those years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_CooleyThe four coaches there before him had a combined record of 315 - 402. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairfield_Stags_men's_basketball Overcoming a 27 point halftime deficit to win over George Mason in the 2010 CIT is also evidence of in-game coaching ability. I would not undersell the guy.

Cooley's matchup zone has given us fits since he was an assistant at bc. We had better bring the same level of aggression as yesterday. Without a great shot blocker like obekpa let's hope some the close in shots go in.

hoyas win 72-55. providence does have some athletes, but i don't see them hanging with us at home and still sub .500 in the big east.. especially if we get Whittington back i just don't see this game being close
