It'll be interesting to see how the center battle turns out next year. Personally I think Govan will be starting over Agau (and Hayes)* but college experience is no joke. Govan should start the entire season even if he isn't ready early on. The only way we'll have success in March 2016 is if Govan is starting and playing well, and getting game time will be the only way to get him there. Let's maybe wait until he has one practice before we anoint him. If he isn't ready, he won't start. Seems to me the staff has done a decent job of developing bugs, so we will see how they think he should be developed.

Govan is one of the two Wings Academy basketball players — guard Desure Buie is the other — who was nominated Wednesday for the McDonald’s game, taking place on April 1. But Govan and Buie are on a list that includes several hundred players from across the country, and they are competing to make a roster that will include 24 players split into two teams. “I was really excited. It’s a great honor because only so many get nominated each year, so to be one of the top ones for a prestigious event like that, it’s a great honor,” Govan, who has committed to Georgetown, said. “Just the history of that game and all of the great players that have come out of there, it’s exciting.” www.nydailynews.com/sports/high-school/wings-duo-fried-mcdonald-nominations-article-1.2080528

Awesome photo. Marcus is a LOAD. Who also has a ridiculous 3 PT shot. Won't surprise me for him to be a 180-200 shooter one year here.

What I like from the little film I've seen and also secondhand reports is that unlike so many other big kids who fall in love with the 3 to the detriment of other aspects of their game, he's also both willing and more than able to mix it up down low as well. I love that kind of mix of skills, because it makes it almost impossible for teams to "cheat" in their defenses. Can't wait to see what the kid brings to the Hoyas.

My rough count is 6 Top 100 recruits signed by Big East teams. I suspect ESPN of pushing down the Big East recruit. My two cents.

If you consider RSCI data from before the regular season started, your hunch looks correct. 9 Big East top 100 players according to RSCI: 11. Henry Ellenson (Marquette) 17. Jalen Brunson (Villanova) 43. Brandon Sampson (St. John's) 46. Jessie Govan (Georgetown) 73. Hannif Cheatham (Marquette) 80. Marcus Derrickson (Georgetown) 81. Nick Noskowiak (Marquette) 95. Matt Heldt (Marquette) 98. Alex Owens (Providence)

Just an observation but if Govan is truely 6'10 then Derrickson would easly be 6'8 looking at this pic.
