Man, that Cincinnati-NM game was ugggggllllyyy. Lots of praise for the defenses, but it looked to me like both teams were mostly calling the fist play--dribble, dribble, dribble, contested jumper.
Cincinnati is very, very beatable if the Hoyas don't turn the ball over, but be prepared for one or both teams to finish in the 40s

We didn't beat UConn for a long time, but they were better than us. We rarely have beaten Cuse at the dome, but they are really good there. We didn't beat Pitt for a while, but that was really a DeJuan Blair thing. But Cincy. We lost to them twice last year (and had a lower Pomeroy rank). Lost to them twice two years ago (they were better). Beat them three years ago (we were significantly better). Lost twice more four years ago (we were significantly better). We beat them with the Jeff Green and Hibbert teams (3-0 v Cronin). But since then we are 2-6, with four of those losses coming with the better team. (Overall 5-6 though).

UCLA defeats #7 Missouri 97-94 in OT great win for us and UCLA may jump back into the polls and brings a team ahead of us down.
Rider 56 Rutgers 68 Villanova 70 NJIT 60 close win for Nova not a good look. Liberty 104Union Kentucky(D2) 67 Providence 68 Brown 69. Ugh not a good look for providence or us. Brown hits a game winning three pointer with 8 seconds left. Seton Hall 60 Stony Brook 59 yet another uninspiring C7 performance #5 Indiana 93vs. Jacksonville 59 13 Gonzaga 94 vs. Baylor 87 gonzaga is now 4-0 vs. the B12 this season Saint Louis 68 SIU-Edwardsville 41

Did you see the Hoyas play Tenn.? However, NM is a very good team again this year with an impressive, sophomore 7 foot kid who can shoot the 3 and several guards who are very quick and solid defenders. Still, Cincinnati made at least 10 three point shots in the game before the extended New Mexico defense shut them off. My point is not that NM is great but that I think that Cincinnati is again a very solid and dangerous team and one that has both size and outside shooting. They handled Xavier earlier. Their inside game is lacking on the offensive end but they rebounded well. Not certain the Hoyas can handle them on the boards with Hopkins in the middle and unless they pick up the perimeter defense this could be another tough match-up.

Watched the UCLA v Missouri game last night. UCLA is a better team now than they were when the Hoyas played them due to their 3 freshman having more experience but the defensive effort the Hoyas put on them should not go overlooked. The Hoyas were able to stop their fast break offense with good transition defense , then using the zone defense were able to stifle their halfcourt offense. Mizzu is a good team but Heath does not deploy the full court press for 40 minutes like Anderson did, therefore their overall man-to-man defense is not as strong with less turnovers. Heath never went to zone the whole night so UCLA was able to run its offense. Mizzu's transition defense was not as good as the Hoyas either. Missouri had the game won in regulatin but four straight turnovers by Pressy( that were not attributed to him b/c player did not catch his forced passes) let UCLA back into the game.

Cincinnati is a good team, but if people think its crazy the Hoyas are #15, what does it mean that Cincinnati was the #8 team in the country? It means there are no great teams this year, but a lot of good ones. As for the Mizzou-UCLA game, I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna' put the blame for late turnovers on the guy with 19 assists. GO SANTA CLARA!! Today, I am a Bronco. PS - Mason Plumlee looks like Doug Neidermayer.

Kentucky still very weak at point guard - Calipari didn't spread the salary cap money wisely this year.

Benimon with 20 pts and 21 boards in that win over Oregon St.
In three games against G'town, Temple and Oregon St., he averaged 20 ppg and 18 rpg.
Good for him.

only remotely interesting game for us is Dayton vs. USC at 7pm on PACN. No other games involving BE teams, our OOC foes, or potential additions. There are a couple other games that'll probably be competitive such as:
Northern Iowa vs. Wichita St 6pm ESPN3 Canisius vs. Detroit 3pm WV vs. E. Kentucky 4pm ROOT/ESPN3
but basically nothing really of interest today.

Bad loss for Dayton - they lose 63-61 in OT at USC.
To put this in perspective, USC went into the game 4-8, by far the worst record in the Pac-12, which I argue marks them as the front runner for worst team of the major conferences.
Dayton falls to 9-4, with one more game vs. UAB before A-10 play starts.
