Is anyone else remotely concerned that we don't play a game between the 22nd and the 5th?
That is a pretty long layoff of two weeks and when then go on the road to play a Marquette team that will have played twice during that time span. Seems like it would have been a good time to get a Howard or someone else local at home on the 29th.

"Remotely" exactly describes my level of concern.
It is weird, it's an anomaly, and it probably could have been filled with another local school or, due to recent events, with a rematch against a certain SEC school where everyone wears jorts.
But it's not. And there's really nothing for it right now. It just is what it is.
I am sure they will be practicing hard, preparing as best they can for Marquette.
That game on the road is a tough one either way. Maybe it's better that they get rested up before conference play begins. Who's to say?
So, yes, I am remotely concerned. I'm also remotely concerned about North Korean missile tests. But I can't do anything about those either.

I am not. It is a long difficult Big East season and I would rather have out players fresh for it. Also what would another game do for this team? Sure, maybe get Bowen and Moses more minutes but it seems like more focused practices would benefit those two. Also, gives everyone time to focus on the positives of their OOC play and come into conference play strong.

It's a little weird, but it's not like are guys won't be practicing and scrimmaging throughout that period. Our key guys like Otto and Greg are going to be playing a lot of minutes in the BE, so they might as well be rested going in. I don't think having another cupcake game on the 29th or whatever would particularly change anything.

Boz, I was curious and looked at UF's schedule and they had a scheduling conflict. The up side is if we take care of business, we are probably a top 11/12 team heading into conference play. Cincy plays Xavier, Kansas plays Ohio State and Illinois plays Missouri. All of those teams are just a notch ahead of us.
If you are remotely concerned about North Korea, then you probably are a little paranoid.

It's one of those things that could go either way. Some will insist it's a hinderance and the team will come out flat after all that time off. Others will think it could go the other way. It all matters how the team responds to it.
As long as they use the 2 weeks to push themselves and get better I think we'll be fine. We have a very hard opening two games of BE play. This break could be exactly what we need. Or it could cause us to start out 0-2 in BE play.

More likely, it will have no significant effect, but people will use it as a narrative for whatever happens at Marquette.

I'm not concerned, but I'd prefer that the off days be scattered throughout the Big East season, rather than having a big break at the start.
