Huge bummer for Villanova to lose Sumpter. Is he definitely out for UNC? They could really use all of their big guns for that game. But how about Jason Fraser's career performance yesterday?

Random thoughts on NCAA round 2 on the eve before NIT round 2:
- BC joined the ACC right after they lost in the BET. Good riddance. Similarly, I enjoyed cheering new BE member Louisville dismantle GTech. Welcome to the future, LOU.
- The last 10 minutes of regulation and both OTs in the WVU-WFU game were some of the best ball I've seen all year. They were both executing down the stretch, hitting tough shots, and not turning the ball over. Too bad someone had to lose since they played better than 90% of the other NCAA teams.
- Sunday's games sucked in general. Being in Atlanta, I got to watch all 40 minutes of Tech's demise rather than switching to the Puke game when Miss St rallied to a tie. Nice one, CBS.
- Lavin is the Jay Leno of ESPN. All chin, no ratings. Digger needs some new green ties.
- Is CBS saving some dramatic profiles of players and/or coaches for the 2nd weekend? Aren't there usually a few documentaries of the cinderella teams or happy-go-lucky players that have come back from getting shot while saving a family of cats from a burning building or something?
- The most tourney drama so far is Bobby Knight lashing out vs. indiana and UWM getting the chance to be beaten by the largest margin in the Sweet 16. It's awful (actually, CBS's Spring Break Shark Attack was awful, with the lack of drama in the NCAA's a close second.)
- Will JTII be back in McDonough tomorrow night? I watched us barely beat Princeton there (on TV of course) in 1989. I hope the place rocks.
