It's a long way, and a bunch of traffic from CS Fullerton to the Ocean, so surfing is probably not their primary activity. Not that I'm overlooking the opponent, but should we be fortunate enough to move on, I am dying for a UNLV matchup, if for no other reason than to have an excuse to go to Vegas. Any tips for last minute hotel rooms Nevada? Well, I have been looking at the possible matchup myself. Actually, I am hoping UNLV loses to SC, because I would have a conflict whatever the date of the game with UNLV was (except Wed., which would be too early). And I couldn't bear being in town and not being able to go to the game. That said, try Sunset Station, a bit far from the Strip, but about six or seven miles from the T&M. The rates would probably be okay. They might have some rooms available too.

I'm pretty sure the next round, being the quarterfinals, will be played in MSG...but I could be wrong. The NIT is totally wacky.

Only the semis and the finals are at MSG. Our next game (should we win tonight) will almost certainly be at South Carolina or at UNLV.
As for predictions, I am sensing far too much overconfidence in this thread. 15, 20, 30 point wins? We've had our blowout.

Hey, Auxerre, three cheers for Bobby Dye! I remember what a great kick I got out of watching CSUF's run to the Elite 8. Was that really 1978?
One other thing worth pointing out about CSUF is that they annually have one of the best college baseball teams in the country, and are currently rated #1. Go Titans (in baseball, that is)!

I'd love for the Hoyas to play in Vegas, but from a travel perspective, sending the Hoyas out west doesn't make much sense when they're just going to have to turn around and head back to NYC. (To even out the jinx... it makes more sense to send UNLV to DC on the way to MSG) Of course a lot needs to happen for these scenarios to come to fruition.

If Lic says we are on a mission from God - so be it! I better go to confession this afternoon. Keep in mind CSF scores 75 points a game and we've only scored 75 points 4 times all season - this could be much more difficult than we would like to think.

DJ leads five Hoyas in double figures with 19, bringing even more life to the "should DJ be back" thread... Jeff has 7 blocks, and Wallace finishes the game with an unusual double-double, with only 6 points, but 14 assists and 11 steals. Cornelio plays the last 7 minutes of the game, and finishes with 8 points and 4 offensive boards, on 4-8 shooting.

1. Ralphy Holmes -- One of the best players in school history, can do anything, and has tremendous personality. An NBA hopeful -- his size, only 6-4 could hurt him -- who could star for years in Europe. Meniscus tear in the first half vs. USF; had the knee taped and played the rest of the way. Can't travel because of swelling, so he'll be at Off Campus Pub with the Titan Hoop Club for this afternoon's game.
2. Hardy Asprilla -- Heart and soul of this team. We have no size -- our tallest regular is 6-7 -- but Hardy, who is Colombian, did all the dirty work and dominated taller foes on the board. Tore his ACL early in conference play. Won the THC's annual hustle award (Holmes won two years ago) despite missing half the season.
3. John Clemmons -- Backup point guard, good ball-handler, one of our two most important players off the bench. Broke his foot in practice the day before the Oregon State game.
4. Lloyd Walls -- Wright State transfer from Anaheim (the city immediately south of Fullerton), was projected as our starting center. Suffered from concussions. Turns out he's got a body part (not sure what it's called; it's what attaches the head to the torso; no, not the neck) that's damaged, and there's nothing that can be done. Ended his basketball career.
5. Andrew Awad -- Suffered a cancer relapse and had to leave school. Currently at Stanford Medical Center. Was able to go to the USF game and sit on the bench with the team -- talked to his brother afterward; he said it was a real high point for Andrew. Supposedly things are going well in his recovery.
Most of us in the Big West are rooting hard for Davidson to upset the Md. losers. When Pacific lost in the Big West final, their message board was overtaken by Md. idiots Editeded that they weren't going to the NCAAs. Really vile stuff. Most of us didn't care one way or another about the Twerps, but now we hate them.
If we had Ralphy, I'd say watch out. We've outrebounded taller teams all season, and our speed has been too much for some teams. This team is capable of scoring 30 points in five minutes. But it's also inconsistent, and if our 3's aren't falling, we can struggle. But no deficit is too much to overcome (nor any lead too much to feel comfortable). Oregon State talked a lot about how fast they were and how easily they handled Washington's speed, and we blew them off the court in the first half. (We couldn't hit a layup in the second half, and OSU rallied.) USF was described as a copy of us speed-wise, and we blew them off the court in the second half.
But without Holmes, we're really undermanned.
We're No. 1 in all four polls! But it means nothing. The only thing that matters is Omaha; it's important to be No. 1 at the end.
This CSUF baseball team probably is better than the team that swept Texas in the CWS final last year, but we lost our best pitcher and hitter (both with Oakland now; Kurt Suzuki is still with the big club in Spring Training). This weekend we play our annual non-conference series with hated Big West rival Long Beach State, which should fill Blair Field in Long Beach for three days.

Lets not under estimate our opponent, this is how you get bitten. We have to take all our opponents seriously, the reason this team is coming to MCdonough Arena is because they won like we did. I remember similiar post like this before our 5 game slide at the end of the regular season. We cant take any team lightly, I hope the guys play them, like they played UCONN in the BE TOURNY. Just my thoughts I totally agree. Hoyas 72 Fullerton 23

Especially since it would be a new Hoya record (breaking Iverson's 10 vs. Miami in 1996). Score tonight: Hoyas 62 Titans 51

While I actually have a Terp friend or two, their sports fans are simply the worst fans ever. They are all fair-weather, but somehow feel entitled to be good. They are rude, crude and violent as a group. They riot when win, they riot when they lose. And they are exceedingly arrogant. In the immortal words of Maryland F Nik Caner-Medley are he was being arrested for driving while intoxicated, "I'm from Maryland! No one can beat me!" Except, apparently, Clemson.
