So I finally had a chance to watch the Duquesne game on DVR.
I was very impressed with DSR's debut. (Since Florida was cancelled, I don't think that counts.)
4-4 from behind the arc (and fractions of a second from 5-5)
Was this the best freshman debut since David Edwards? It was as far a I can remember.
This kid is going to be special on the hilltop.
With the absence of Porter he saved out bacon on Sunday.

AI and Sweetney both had 19 in their freshman debuts apparently. Had DSR's other made three been counted, he would have set a new record for the Hoyas.

Can't recall the exact numbers, but I believe that Victor Page had a very strong debut.

The kid gets buckets. No doubt. With more confidence, he'll start operating in the lane with pull-ups, leaners, and floaters. In highschool, they went in at a terrific rate. TBD if this works at the next level because he does lack elite athleticism, but if he's open he hits his shots.
If Markel is ineffective at driving against zone sets, DSR may be our best option at penetrating and creating shots for himself/others. He is a very underrated passer. We saw a flash or two of his passing ability against Duquesne. He could be our secret zone buster.
Our offense against the zone has looked terrible thus far. As stated above, if DSR is cold from 3 against Duquesne, we probably lose. We can't just jack 3s all the time.
Hopefully Otto is healthy and able to play again starting tonight.

Can't recall the exact numbers, but I believe that Victor Page had a very strong debut. Victor had 18 in his opening game against Colgate. And, as I just learned from DFW's basketball history, he scored 71 points in his first three games: www.hoyabasketball.com/features/top100/v_page.htm

He had a nice pass to Nate inside against Florida, too.
