Long time coming from staff. He's a better shooting Kels. Passing too with Kels having the better handle. Glad we made this move. You think he can be a 41% 3pt shooter ID? I haven't seen the G'town offer posted anywhere else so it makes me wonder if it's true, I'm kinda hoping it isn't cause I always thought G'town was his top choice and if offered he'd commit right away. Doesn't seem like a good sign if the backup plan has to think on it,

The kid can stroke it, is quick and smart. I think it's true because I was told that the staff was waiting to see how he ran the point with Takeover and performed vs. top AAU talent. So far he's passing the test and has to continue to because he's undersized a bit for today's cbb. Staff may have told him to hold off until a certain time; we are still on several high combo guards who I think we like more. I'd take a commit now then tell the other kids that he's not a threat.

Doesn't seem like a good sign if the backup plan has to think on it, My admittedly uneducated guess is this was probably true in the fall....when he didn't have many HM offers....now he has offers from a ton of HM's. I don't think we "run the risk" of him popping right away. And if he does? Great! Honestly we always slow our backup plans for our first choices who spurn us in the end and then we're left without even our backups because we really haven't shown them much love. We don't have the ability recruiting wise at the moment to pick and choose who we want. We'll see how it all plays out. I'm not advocating stretching on kids that don't have the ability, but all these offers he's getting from good programs mean the kid can play

your analysis HAH reminds me of Jerry Maguire's love affair with Kush, while slow playing Tidwell and treating him like the bald headed step child until he needs him once Kush signs with Sugar. Hopefully, some of these slow played kids will be like Rod and stick with us in the end. I think they love Oubre, love Russell like Nickens and are curious about Dev Robinson, but are slow playing Oubre for Russell. Russell is a beast, but ultimately I think will go elsewhere which is why I'd press Oubre as my combo guard; I've seen enough. All my opinion.

RE: Oubre, would love him too, however I read something on Rivals natl board (i think that one's free so not poaching material) from Eric Bossi who had talked to his dad. "Oubre's father told me in an email right before the start of the two live weekends and indicated that Kansas, UConn, Arizona, Ohio State, UCLA, LSU and Alabama (and there's no order) were at the top his (Kelly Jr.'s) list." Doesn't really look good now does it? Same with Russel, seems like everyone has him pegged to UL or UNC. These are the kids we need to recognize don't have a legit interest in us and move on. Failures from the staff to recognize the writing on the wall has hurt us the last few years (and no i'm not talking about Noel or Anderson...we were in it till the end to some degree). I'm not saying don't STOP recruiting them, but focus your energy on kids who are feeling us a little more and don't have to make up huge ground with. This goes back to our need for a legit recruiter back in the field again.

Didn't read that about Oubre. All good points HAH and I agree completely with your last two sentences.

Wow!! I didn't know he was that type of shooter. Thanks ID...

terrapinstationmd.com/2013/04/29/eybl-session-2-roundup-team-takeover-dominant-kai-locksley-still-talented/Tre Campbell Campbell had a tough first weekend, so it was encouraging to see him do a lot better during the second session. Campbell’s first outing was great, as he compiled 11 points and eight assists to zero turnovers. He also finally hit some three pointers this weekend, with five total. To see Campbell thrive as a facilitator was the most impressive sign of things to come; he had 29 assists over that five game stretch, and never turned the ball over more than two times. With so many weapons on his team, Campbell is making sure that everyone is playing to the best of their abilities. He’s not exactly a sharp shooter, but Campbell is athletic and knows how to get his teammates open. As a pure point guard, he is as good a prospect as most. The best part about Campbell’s game? His team hasn’t lost this summer with him as the floor general.

His adaptation to running the point full-time has been great and hopefully continues.

'14 PG Campbell continues to reel in offers insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/national/post?id=6600"I have taken unofficial visits to Georgetown, St. Joseph's, VCU and Penn State,” Campbell said. (But) no official visits yet.
"College coaches like that I am a true point guard -- a leader who can make open shots when needed."
I evaluated Campbell back in December at the DMV Tip-Off Classic. The 6-foot-1, 170 pound guard excelled on offense on and off the ball. He handled and delivered the ball on time and shot the ball extremely well knocking down 3s from ball reversals and on the move. I love how he got others involved but he also displayed a knack for creating and making his own shots.

www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/recruiting-insider/wp/2013/05/06/oconnells-melo-trimble-potomacs-dion-wiley-lead-class-of-2014-basketball-prospects/?wpmk=MK0000203St. John’s junior guard Tre Campbell (Team Takeover): Campbell has become one of the hottest names among college coaches, thanks to his scoring ability and high motor. He can knock down the long-range shot, as witnessed by his 73 three-pointers last season, and is always on the move as a slasher, using speed that’s helped draw offers from the likes of Maryland, George Mason, Georgetown and VCU. Another name to watch on Takeover and from St. John’s is James Palmer, who impressed many at the recent Elite Youth Basketball League in Hampton. The 6-foot-3 swingman’s instincts and hard work help make him an efficient, impact player off the bench, drawing offers from Towson and Rutgers and interest from Maryland and Georgetown.

Good get, needed a lead guard who everyone is comfortable having the ball in crunch time, like Wallace, Wright and Starks before him. Stock seems to be on the rise too. Welcome Tre!
