we haven't a true pg since jonathan wallace. . Hate to be a nag about this but Jonathan Wallace was never a "true" point guard. A true point guard takes care of the ball-handling 80% of the times he is on the floor. A true pg's first, second and maybe third responsibility is setting his teammates up with the pass. A true point guard is distinguished more by his assists than his own points. Because of either the system or Wallace's particular skills or both, Jon was not THAT guy. He was smart and steady but he wasn't all that good at creating. He could struggle majorly when defenses pressed. And his strongest asset was being an exceptional shooter when left open. The truth is that despite their flaws Chris and Markel are closer to being true point guards than Jon. For example both of them can drive and dish and that is something Jon wasn't known for.

POD, did you change your mind out of desperation because we need a guard or did he improve significantly?

POD, did you change your mind out of desperation because we need a guard or did he improve significantly? Mostly desperation. If we're telling Wiley that he can play the 1, so help me god...

I agree with you that jon did not have the ability to create for the others due to his limited athleticism. he, however, was able to set the tone and pace of the offense and really controlled the game. not to mention he rarely made any mistake. his ability to knock down open shots was what worked so well in our offense system. that said, however, markel and chris wright, imo, are SG trapped in PG body. yes they got more athleticism and able to penetrate, but i mean with our system, they have not even really shown that kinda ability and utilized their skills in doing so. they can surely pass better than jon, but i don't know if that translates well to our offense. often i had to endure their bonehead plays and turnovers, and they definitely did not have such high bball IQ like jon to really control the game for us. i also don't think pgs should not be the #2 scorers on our team - jon had always deferred the scoring opportunities to others - he was maybe like the #3/4 scoring option at the best. of course players like tyus jones would be the perfect pg in everyone's eyes, but looking at jon and his legacy here, i don't think if being able to create is all that makes a big difference with our system.

Jon Wallace was a perfect fit for JT3's system. He is in no way a prototypical PG but he was terrific for what we needed. He could knock down shots with that rainbow jumper, he took care of the ball, controlled the pace, made the right passes (even if they were the assist to the actual assist) and was good enough, with Sapp's help, to break pressure. His biggest character trait was his mental toughness, I would sign up for another Jon Wallace right now. Besides a low post scoring threat, that is biggest missing piece right now. A kid that refuses to back down or get intimidated.

Chris Wright averaged 5-6 assists in this offense. He also lead the DLeague in assists and some scouts have called him the purest point in the DLeague…

Tre Campbell, St. John's, DC (2014) The more you watch him the more he grows on you. He is similar in build and game to Jabarie Hinds - not quite as quick but certainly has the athletic tools to play high major hoops. Campbell can make poor decisions from time to time but he did an excellent job of handling the ball against pressure in this game and creating offense off the dribble. His own outside shot wasn't falling so he focused on getting the ball to others to the tune of 9 assists (with only 1 turnover) in 27 minutes of play to go along with 6 points. Solid game from a solid prospect. - See more at: villanova.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1500600#sthash.Ki2pBvTb.dpuf

Long time coming from staff. He's a better shooting Kels. Passing too with Kels having the better handle. Glad we made this move.
