The staff has been on Crawford pretty hard too though and with the weapons the program will have in 2015 Crawford's ridiculous passing abilities would work well.. Trier is a big time scorer no doubt, he's tremendous in transition but in the game against Diallo's team he didn't seem to be much of a passer/facilitator.. The little kid and Pat McCaw handled the ball much more than he did.. He’s not he would be a scoring point imo.. But in his defense that Montrose team needs him to score there wasn’t a lot of talent on that team…I don’t think it comes down to one or the other but between Tre Crawford and Reaves whose going to provide outside shooting? Crawford passing ability is great but if other teams can just pack in the paint then that skill is mitigated.. This is why I was hoping he'd play for Team Takeover this aau season, it'd be nice to see how his game meshes with top talent along side him.. If the staff ends up landing Crawford & Reaves, I'd be happy.. Derrickson, Crawford & Reaves would be a nice class..

Does that mean we would strike out with Trier, Mann and Bacon? I would take Crawford and Reaves which would solidify our TTO relationship.

It would be ok but still nobody to stretch the floor on the perimeter and nobody who can go get a basket when the clock is running down. I like all of those guys individually but not necessarily thrilled with them as a group IMO This team needs a dog an Austin Grandstaff type that wants to bury you. A kid that thinks he is the best player on the court, every time he steps on the court, Trier fits that bill… I don’t really care if he can or can’t be a true point because if you bring him in you want him to do what he does best, which is score the ball. He’s a smart kid, and he knows if he wants to play at the next level he has to improve his PG play, but for me I don’t really care about that. All of the players we have coming are great players with tremendous upside but none of them have really been go to guys sans Peak, and that was against questionable comp.

When the clock is running down, just put it in Peak's hands! :-)

I'm not local and haven't seen Crawford play live but every clip I see him in he gets in the lane with ease and he seems to be a good finisher as well.. If he has the ball late in the clock, I'd have very little worries myself.. Semaj Christon & Rysheed aren't high level shooters either and they live in the paint.. Crawford passing ability imo opens the floor up to 94 feet, all JT3 has to do is tell the other players to sprint the floor in transition if something is opens up there's a good chance he'll see it.. Not to take anything away from Trier but don't you think Peak, White or Copeland would have scored 25 a game at Montrose this season? That's why I think it would have been a good test for him to play with Team Takeover like Pappi from Westtown has done..

That's why I think it would have been a good test for him to play with Team Takeover like Pappi from Westtown has done.. No I don’t. Copeland didn’t score 25 for Miller and they were not that great. White doesn’t have that mentality even if he has the ability. Trier’s played eybl 17U since his freshman season led EYBL in scoring last year as a Junior so I gotta believe those numbers are legit. He also get’s college buckets, pull-ups, going off ball screens, step backs, using space dribbles to get his shot off. His numbers aren’t a product of him simply being physically superior than his competition. I don’t think Crawford is on the level of the two guys you mentioned above getting into the lane or finishing both are super quick and athletic… I think if you add Crawford you need some shooters around him to maximize that passing ability. I would be happy with taking both Trier and Craw. I just wouldn’t be too excited about Crawford and Reaves unless outside shooting improves greatly Reaves..

And if Kenny Johnson ends up at MD, that's not good either. I'd rather he go to MD and see Turgeon get axed after next season than what I'm hearing could be the alternative if he chooses Louisville. Looks like L'ville.. Evan Daniels @evandaniels 4m Kenny Johnson has accepted an assistant coaching position at Louisville, per a source.

I hope it doesn't and what I'm hearing is way off, but we'll see.

Also, Crawford was not good at all this year when he was forced to be "the man" at Gonzaga. And he hasn't played a full season as a true point with a supporting cast around him. So it's hard to get a read on him.

I doubt one of our assistant would leave to work under a head coach who might not make it to this point next year but weirder things have happened.

I heard speculation that Bro was a target along with KJ but no job security there so I doubt it… Of course maybe UMD makes him an offer he can’t refu$e, but still don’t think that’s likely. If your looking for a juicy rumor I would look towards KJ trying to flip Marcus to Ville. KJ was both a takeover coach and a Paul VI coach so makes sense for them to pursue if they are interested. No idea if that is what Deacon is talking about though

No idea if that is what Deacon is talking about though I saw on the MD board where someone quoted a source close to our program who said KJ was hired at IU mainly to recruit Marcus but that he didn't want to play under Crean so the juicy rumor could have more substance than we know

Wait a minute - are you talking about Derrickson? What are the rules (or at least common etiquette) about working kids who've already given a verbal?

If Bro went to MD, that would just be a huge slap in the face. There are certain things you don't do in business, and that would be one of them.

May not make much of a difference but for what its worth III and Turg have a good relationship. Much better than any relationship between the head coaches of those two universites in probably four decades (the exception being the short time Bob Wade was head coach of Maryland while Big John was at GU).

Ok before the firestorm starts.. 1) Hard to believe KJ was hired at Indiana to get Derrickson.. Open up the DMV create a pipeline for takeover kids? Yes probably, but specifically for Derickson, NO. Also don’t think Derrickson is a good fit at Ville or the type of recruit Pitino get’s excited about. Would he take time to recruit a 50-100 kid away from another school when there are so many talents still left on the board that would be perfect for his attacking pressing style? Seems unlikely.
Either way the staff is going hard for 2nd 3rd and fourth options so I think we will be fine
