6'2'' 175 local combo who transferred into Episcopal last year so hasn't really been on the scene. He was the third best player on an Episcopal team that featured Arnaud Adala Moto (Wake Forest) and Kethan Savage (GW). He has great handle and uses it to create space to get to the rim or pull up from midrange. Has great form on his jumpshot and shoots a high percentage from 3. Has offers from American, Columbia, Howard, Holy Cross, UNC Greensboro, and a bunch of other low to mid majors. Could be a late bloomer. Staff hasn't showed any interest but worth keeping an eye on him senior year - especially since he's a local kid. rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Doug-Chappell-138950

Can we limit threads on this board to kids we have interest in or who could plausibly play at our level? This isn't a DC area recruiting board, it's a Georgetown recruiting board.

Haha, aye aye Captain!
FYI - that's how a lot of threads on this board have started, including the thread about his teammate Adala Moto. Just sayin.
At any rate, pardon my thread about a local kid at a position of need who could plausibly play at our level.

Couldn't agree more. And it shouldn't be just the recruiting threads either. From here on out, there should be no more discussion about any player that has committed to a mid-major or an Ivy. Especially that Wallace kid.

He couldn't play at our level, that seems to be the opinion of not only our staff, but the staffs of the other Big East, ACC and A-10 teams. If we started threads about every guard who had offers from Patriot League and MEAC schools from the DC area, there would be a lot of threads on here. It would at least make more sense if he even had one decent mid major offer, or our staff had shown ANY interest.

If he's so bad, then how is he on the radar? If coaches from the Big East, ACC, and A-10 teams take the time to share their evaluations of a player of his caliber, surely Hoyatalk members can discuss it, right? you are a hoyatalk nazi. If you don't like a kid's game, you dont really have to read the thread, right?

This thread is off to a really good start. I will now attempt to further it along.
So what did everybody think about the halftime act against Rutgers in 2006?

Doesn't that make this sound like a waste of time? If the staff chooses to show some interest (which I doubt will happen), then sure, fire away, but until then, why bother?

You really are clueless. By basketball radar, you mean he's going to play Division 1 basketball? Do you know how many kids that would qualify for threads on this board? As I said earlier, if we're going to start listing DC area kids who have Patriot League offers on this board, when GU has shown NO interest and other schools of our caliber have similarly shown no interest, then this board would have hundreds more threads each year.

Don't waste your time replying to the thread if you don't want to. Nobody is forcing you to reply. Just keep it moving and only reply to those threads about kids who are worth your time.
How do you define interest? If interest = offer, then nope, no interest. I'm not sure if you're aware, but interest means less than that. Staffs are in contact with tons of kids (for all sports) before they offer them. This interest/contact comes in the form of phone calls, phone calls to their coaches, assistants keeping an eye on them while recruiting their teammates, conversations after games, invitations to take unofficials, etc.
In the final All Met rankings he finished "on the bubble," after his second season of high school basketball due to an injury. Senior teammates Kethan Savage and Arnaud Adala Moto finished on the first and second teams, respectively. He was first team all IAC, along with a bunch of players that would qualify as "on our level" even by your definition. He was also MVP of the Sleepy Thompson Tourney and obviously also made the all tournament team.
I don't mean to go after you Problem of Dog but I started this thread because I was under the impression that the purpose of belonging to an online community with those who share a similar interest is to share information with each other. That's all i'm doing here. I think that this kid is relevant because he's kind of coming out of nowhere and i just wanted to share some detailed information about the kid because I have it. He transferred out of nowhere then sat out a season because of an injury. I've seen him play and I think he's a classic late bloomer that we should, if nothing else, just have on our radar.
Maybe he isn't good enough to play for us, maybe he is. Time will tell

I mean if its silly for an internet talkboard to discuss him, then it must be pretty ridiculous for you and your Big East coach bff to talk about him since you have no relation to the kid and he's way to horrible to play at the D-1 level according to you. See what I'm getting at? looks like you're the clueless one buddy

See what I'm getting at? looks like you're the clueless one buddy You act so butthurt when anyone says anything about Episcopal kids. This isn't high school anymore, get over it. If you take a deep breath and stop acting (and reading) like a high schooler, I never said I knew the opinion of every ACC, Big East or A-10 coach. But none of them have offered. And there is NOTHING on the internet to suggest that Georgetown has shown ANY interest in the kid. It's clutter, plain and simple. If Mr. Chappell wants to continue to post about his kid and get backed up only by Episcopal alums, then that is fine, but this board should be limited to threads on kids who have at least some reported interest from Georgetown. This is even worse, because this kid isn't good enough to even potentially have interest from Georgetown, especially for a spot in the 2013 class.
