As someone who grew up in DC before attending Georgetown, this is a sad day. Alums 50 and under had to be exposed to go-go while you were on the Hilltop. Whether you embraced it or not, I hope you realized how important the music is to the city. I believe go-go defines DC. And it all started with Chuck. Rest in peace and run joe! God bless you Chuck.
“It’s about love, the communication between performer and audience. When you’re on stage, the people put that love to you and you give it back. There’s no other music like it.”- Chuck Brown

I used to go see Chuck at a club across from Andrews back in the day. The Soul Searchers were one helluva band. Rest easy, Chuck.

It's been a tough 24 hours since I heard he passed away. Always felt like he was part of my extended family. Helped birth the music that was the soundtrack of my youth.
R.I.P. to a music legend and DC's own. There will never be another like him.
