According to ESPN we are now on a 6'7" transfer from Virginia Tech...
UPDATE: Dorian Finney-Smith has been contacted by Florida, Memphis, Georgetown and VCU since he announced his plans to leave Virginia Tech on Tuesday, writes Larry Rubama of The Virginia-Pilot.
Florida, VCU and Georgetown had all been linked to Finney-Smith in recent days, but the inclusion of Memphis is a new development. Rubama writes that Finney-Smith expects to hear from more schools in the coming days, so more schools could emerge as frontrunners for the forward.
It is interesting that Memphis has cracked Finney-Smith's list; coach Josh Pastner has maintained Memphis would not pursue projects during the offseason, and would only contemplated adding players that can immediately impact Memphis. Though Finney-Smith would not be eligible next season, and has struggled to find his offensive groove during ACC play, it's difficult to impress effort on players, and the freshman forward has a knack for crashing both the offensive and defensive glass.
******** Though Florida looks to be the early frontrunner for Virginia tech transfer Dorian Finney-Smith, Dave Telep of ESPN Recruiting points out that several other schools could be in the mix.
"Will be a few days before list emerges by Dorian Finney-Smith," Telep tweets. "Might hear Fla, VCU, Kansas and Villanova plus others."
Adds Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com: "Hearing Florida, Marquette, Georgetown and Iowa State as potential landing spots for Virginia Tech transfer Dorian Finney-Smith."

If Dorian has his act together, he will commit well before Pollard pulls his head out.

Supposedly he's awesome according to my VT friend but not sure how to gauge that.

Apologies if this has been asked/answered, but would a player like this count against our cap on the number of scholarships in the year he must sit out?
Yes--Admin

Some say that he was a better player than McAdoo coming out of HS.
He attended the same HS as Macklin & his brother plays for ODU...

He's a natural small forward, but played out of position at the 4 this past season for VT.
He's a good athlete, an excellent passer and rebounder and he can handle the ball. However, he struggled on offense end because he honestly doesn't have a defined offensive skill. He struggled with consistency from the perimeter, but with a year to work on it, he could be a dependable shooter from deep.
I was a big fan of his coming out of high school and I'd love to have him.
