It is absolutely no surprise that the NCAA is investigating Noel. They would have investigated him anywhere he went due to his recruitment and the people around him.
I wouldn't be surprised if something turned up. I also wouldn't be surprised if nothing turns up - Kentucky knows what they are doing.

Dan--you see why the "Times" is the best. You can't even comment--already tried that route when I initially went on the attack-and that's why I sent the email instead.
If they dig--the trail leads to Syracuse--at least the one that Thamel tried to get Kentucky with. Randolph is their pimp--and fact Thamel waited months to mention his ties to ASM--when he, himself wrote what a disgusting outfit ASM was-and all about Kevin Ware and his UCF recruitment. Mentioned how they used "runners" and mentioned the runner in Ware's recruitment yet we're to believe that Errol Randolph--who Thamel refused to describe as Mr. Randolph describes himself as a "Self Employed Basketball and Football Talent Evaluator" had nothing to do with ASM? Just posted it on his linkedin/facebook pages for fun? You know because so many janitors/substitute teachers just happen to pick one agency/sports marketing group to post/be fans of. Kind of like the Syracuse stuff all over his pages as well? No mention of that Petey?
Bernie Fine's wife can be used as a blow up doll by Syracuse players. Bernie Fine can molest kids. Syracuse can ignore drug testing. Syracuse can commit academic fraud repeatedly. Their players can beat up women repeatedly--yet nothing from Petey. For an investigative reporter he sure seems to pick and choose what he deems worthy of investigating and for a reported news outlet that believes they are elite--might want to use a crazy thing called Google and find out about "sources" you use and quote--but fail to tell the entire story because your writer is a fanboy of the school this pimp does his dirt.
Funny how this overshadows the complete cluster going on at UNC right now--where basketball/football players were allowed to basically commit academic fraud, not go to class, etc......and get by without any punishment.
As for NCAA--they need to remove themselves from "enforcement". It's too selective in who they go on attack. As I spoke with KGHoya last night--they went on attack over Reggie Bush/USC and what's come of that? A complete joke. The head of the committee who investigates tells them to "comply like we do at Miami" and you see how that worked with Nevin Shapiro. South Carolina quietly gets off with loss of 6 scholarships despite fact boosters were paying for prospects unofficial visits, North Carolina got away with the most egregious and blatant rules breaking-academic fraud, player/agent ties, and even one committee member stated "This was FAR worse then what SMU did when they got Death Penalty" and they get less then USC. Cam Newton (remember Dee used "high profile athlete" when describing why USC should've known about Reggie Bush) and Auburn. Oregon. LSU. Alabama is still on probation for their repeated rules violations and Trent Richardson had 2 vehicles registered under his name that were each worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Going to be very interesting to see what comes of former USC coach Todd McNair's lawsuit against the NCAA--which I can tell you the USC administration that has been very "We accept NCAA's punishment and adhere to all things they say" is supporting privately--including Pat Haden who is seen as a patsy for NCAA. They lost a major ruling from judge to not have to share their discovery info--and how they felt that would be ignored is just another sign of how ridiculous they operate. The lengths they wanted to protect this speaks to fact that a "witch hunt" is going to be exposed and why wouldn't it be--when you see who was on committee that conducted the investigation/ruled on them--Notre Dame rep, UCLA rep, etc..and the mighty Donuts Paul Dee. Paul Dee was at Miami during Pell Grant scam, and Nevin Shapiro and he headed up the investigation of illegal activity as a rep for the NCAA?
Yeah--no changes need to be made.

On a side note I don’t know how any African American Parent let’s their child play at “Adolph Rupp Arena” How do you spell racist? R U P P I would think twice about tossing out judgments like this. Having heard the same nonsense thrown Georgetown's way, it has no place in a civil conversation. As to Rupp, I would say he was more of a coward. He expressed concerns that the UK fan base was not ready for a desegregated team and was not willing to put his popularity and/or job on the line to do it. It was only when Louisville began to excel with a desegregated team and other SEC teams began to add African American players, Rupp did too. www.bigbluehistory.net/bb/rupp.htmlAwesome article above, I especially like the part where they talk about how he wanted to recruit an African American player but couldn’t find one good enough to play for Kentucky. Seems likely I have no absolutely no problems calling Adolph Rupp a racist… Not recruiting black players in the deep south in the 60’s doesn’t make you a racist but calling black players “C**n”, or saying there’s too many N’s in the ABA does… All he proved by eventually succesfully recruiting and playing blacks is he cares about winning more than being a bigot.. My 2 pennies…Sorry to hijack

Regarding Noel's finances, if I remember correctly wasn't it said that his father was the one who paid for his unofficial trips? And isn't his father a cab driver in the Boston area? When your job entails receiving cash tips, it seems like a pretty easy way of hiding where the money you received came from.

It's not about the truth, it's about what you can prove. Cal and company are the best; you won't find anything on him or the recruits/players. You would need a high level kid to put on a wire and go covert.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Everyone raise their kids to be great basketball players then get Calapari to recruit them and get him on tape doing something dirty. Better yet get him to admit all the past stuff too. haha

Calipari feels the heat, leaves UK for the Knicks. Noel backs out of UK and heads to Gtown. I know, I know......

I would say "improved his method of scamming the system" rather than "learned his lesson." Doesn't learned his lesson imply that he has reformed/improved his behavior? Or maybe that's just an old fashioned interpretation.

NN speaks....sorta: Kentucky basketball recruit Nerlens Noel: 'The NCAA hasn't contacted me or my mom directly' blog.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/2012/05/kentucky_basketball_recruit_ne.htmlYes, beating a dead horse but... www.zagsblog.com/2012/05/11/nerlens-noel-says-ncaa-hasnt-contacted-him-and-hes-in-great-position-to-qualify/'Noel said his mother was originally leaning toward Georgetown, but in the end the family felt Kentucky was the best choice. “It was a tough process,” Noel said. “It took a while knowing that I only had a couple of months from when I reclassified to really make a decision, but I think I really did a good job in the time I had. I sat down with my family and had a conversation about each school. “I think at the end of the day I spoke with my mom and she was leaning to Georgetown but I told her Kentucky was the perfect fit for me. I mean she really looked into Kentucky and she fell in love with Kentucky itself seeing how much they put into the basketball and how much support they had." '
