April is done and still no mention of a 2012 team. Anyone know why? Here it Stafford.. www.parade.com/news/all-america/2012/basketball-team.html?index=4Not one kid from 44-0 Oak Hill made the team. Kinda strange.. Joe McDonald from Landon school(GW recruit) made the team, has anyone seen him play? I'm just curious because I couldn't find one thread on HoyaTalk about him and he's local. Also his scouting report looks very good.. Here's his write up from ESPN: Strengths: McDonald is a true point guard that has a great understanding of his position. He advance passes on the break and is very unselfish. he makes good decisions and takes great care of the ball on a consistent basis. He is a terrific rebounder for a guard. His nose and desire to gain possession of the ball in awesome. he can make open shots and is capable of scoring big numbers. McDonald is an excellent on ball defender and sets the tone on defense. He is such a capable scorer he could play off the ball as well. Weaknesses: McDonald at times should look to be more aggressive especially on the offensive end of the floor. He can be overly unselfish at times to a fault. Bottom Line: McDonald is a very complete guard that knows how to play. He does a great job of taking care of and defending the ball. He is a terrific rebounder and very capable scorer when aggressive.

We don't need to be looking at PGs other than Jordan, IMO

I saw the mention in today's Parade, but unlike former years, they directed you to their web site. Kind of a half-ass coverage. I thought our boy Smith-Rivera had a 50-50 shot of making the team.

The Parade Team has become an "interesting" selection process. They have a 6'4 DE going to Ohio State in Football on the team in Adolphus Washington--and they either have changed criteria or they just throw some crap at the wall and hope it sticks.

I often feel that the McD and Jordan game selections are based more on potential or how a player's game will transfer to the college level. Maybe Parade is trying to base things more on pure production.

I'd press both and see who pops. The Rector kid is a fall back option also.

Not particularly quick, good rebounder for a kid his size, but not an excellent athlete either. Kid is a winner though. GW is a decent fit for him, he was looking at Princeton too, which would've been a better level for his style of play.

He is pretty decently quick actually, and he's almost an automatic shooter (similar to Ashton Gibbs) and he is winner. Scored 49 in a game earlier this year, but definitely should not really be near all american status. He's a great defensive guard, and I would say that he is definitely more of a point that Jabril. I think that GW is a pretty good fit for him actually. Then again, my evaluation is only based off of seeing him play 3 times a year in season, and a little more during AAU season (practices also).

Saw him play a couple times this year - against Bullis and against St John's.
He was very good but arguably not even the best player on the court in either game (both of which his team lost).
Towards the end of the season, I heard he just shot it every time down the court which is why he put up some big numbers. Still a nice player. . .should do well at GW.
However, just goes to show you how subjective McD AA is.

This is not the McD AA list or the Jordan game. This is the Parade list. You know, Parade, that trashy insert in your Sunday paper.

So one of the Parade AA's is attending Big Daddy Lipscomb U. I'd guess that's a first.

I stand corrected. . .however, same point for Parade AA . . .very subjective and political beauty contest.

Someone (HometownHoya) commented that he looked like a high mid-major get. He was also mentioned off-and-on in this year's All-Met watch as well as in teammate Arnaud Adala-Moto thread. I think he may have committed to GW early, because I know he's come up in conversation before as a great land by them, but not one we were remotely interested in for ourselves.
