I don't know if it's true or not, but according to this article, we have offered class of '14 6'7" forward Leron Black and 5'10" point Anton Beard, both from Memphis AAU Team Thad. I don't recall seeing their names listsed anywhere in the threads. RDF, MCI, alleninxis, id, nashville, or any of you recruiting gurus know anything about these kids?

I don't know anything about Beard--but Black is younger brother of Tarik Black who plays at Memphis and has been on Hoyas radar for last year and half. He's been talked about here before. Better player then his brother at same time in their development.

I have a question for those of you who go to the AAU events and are able to talk to recruits. How do you think recruits are going to respond to the way Kentucky fans treated Bennett yesterday when he dropped them. The tweets that he was retweeting were pretty pathetic and very telling of their fan base. Do you think this will have any effect especially with recruits like Wiggins and Rathan-Mayes who play on his AAU team? I know every school has bad fans but it was getting out of hand.

Kentucky fans are just that.... fans! What I find interesting comes from a UK fan of 30+ years that told me he could give the starting line-up of teams years ago. Now the players come and go so fast that he he can only pull for the uniform rather than the great present day players.

I don't like to generalize, but I will anyway. Kentucky fans are insufferable and think that they're entitled to any recruit that they want.

Fans don't decide a selection and if they do--you don't want the player. If a kid is too ignorant to understand that he controls situation and needs to select a program based on the school/coach and not fans on Twitter, Messageboards, etc...then you need to re-evaluate recruiting him. I'd ask this question about Bennett--so nobody from Florida/Kentucky fanbase wished him well and said good luck? Why focus on the negative zealots or at least re-tweet the positive stuff too? It would be one thing if he did this after 1 team had a few fans act like morons-but he did with UF too. Makes me wonder if he's trying to justify the fact he is going to a school that isn't perceived on the same level as Kentucky or Florida and why he'd need to do that is odd--but he's a teenager. Also think it might be a case of grades-he's yet to take an official visit and you can't' take an official until you are qualified--or at least taken the standardized tests/given school transcripts. NCAA doesn't have to clear you to take an official visit-they just clear for eligiblity. Wiggins is not a lock to UK--Florida State will be in this as well as other schools-but Kentucky is going to be in it as well. Wherever Xavier Rathan Mayes goes will also factor in since they are good friends. For every Anthony Bennett situation, there are Nerlens Noel who talk up their fan support and recently Noel mentioned how his mom was shocked by the attention Kentucky gets/has given her son since he signed with them and she's glad he went there. So it's different for each kid. Get where you are going with the ? though--being that Bennett played for CIA Bounce and so does Wiggins/Rathan Mayes.

Alex Kline @therecruitscoop Georgetown has offered Theo Pinson, a 2014 wing from CP3 All-Stars (NC), reports @justinbyerly.
2014 but RDF talked about him and his family here and from all accounts this is a long shot so I didn’t start a new thread

www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0611/2012-rumble-in-the-bronx-recap-part-iii/Rumble in the Bronx Recap Shane Rector edition.. Top Performance of the Day: Shane Rector (NJ Playaz 2013) – As mentioned the Playaz lost a heartbreaker to Sports U in the championship game but Rector was a dominant force individually throughout the day on his team’s path to that game. His improvement over the past 12 months has been fun to watch and speaks to Rector’s tireless work ethic. A year ago at the Rumble I wrote about Shane after he scored 25 or so points without taking a shot outside of 4 feet. His game used to be all to the rim with little to no outside shot in his arsenal. Fast forward a year and the 3 point shot has become a major weapon for Rector as defenders can no longer go under the screen without being punished. He has also improved drastically as a floor general running a team and being a leader. No longer just an athletic combo guard, Rector has successfully made the transition to a full time point and his recruitment should soon reap the benefits

Soma Edo Doubt a 6’5 PF has an offer from us but fwiw Sleeper Performance of the Day: Soma Edo (Dallas Mustangs 2013) – Edo is not a well known national name which is surprising given the exciting athletic style with which he plays. The 6’6” forward is built like a linebacker but jumps out of the gym and dunks everything in sight. His offensive skill set is very limited at the moment but he had success rebounding at a high level, running the floor hard, and dunking on anyone who tried to get in his way. If he can put together any kind of perimeter or off the dribble game Edo’s recruitment could explode because he can fit anywhere athletically. Soma Edo (Dallas Mustangs 2013) – While still relatively unknown to the national media, Edo has made quite an impression on college coaches. He claims offers from USC, Creighton, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Georgetown, Marquette, and TCU with interest coming from Kansas. www.nbebasketball.com/w3/2012-0611/2012-rumble-in-the-bronx-recap-part-iii/Highlights: blip.tv/ballislife/dfw-test-the-waters-tournament-highlights-soma-edo-deangelo-allen-more-6045378

I always love the use of the word choice when they say a player claims offers from ____. The dual meanings of claim makes it very amusing.

Seems like our offense would be a good fit. Would he start right away for us?

Dakari Johnson is class of 2014 and yes, he would start right away just about anywhere.
Good to see us on that list, thought it's stiff competition and he probably has a legit offer to any of them.
