Please evaluate Pinson as a player? Strengths and weaknesses. Does he fit Hoya's needs?

Theo is type of forward you see at Kentucky/UNC--but unlike Troy Williams-he can shoot, has strong handle, etc...he's an elite SF/SG. 6'6, quick, bouncy, finishes at rim with ease, and can hit deep shot. A little bit too passive at times-but he's got some jack happy guards.
Recruiting wise--he's still going through process and hears from Georgetown. Theo's experience so far in basketball has made him appreciate the need for good guards. He'd rather play in a traditional offense where there is a point guard, and he can play 2G or wing. He grew up a big Duke fan--but mentioned that doesn't mean he'll end up there. Just that was his team when he was younger. They are recruiting him. All honesty-he/family are looking forward to his Summer with Team USA--and get to Lithuiana.

I'm predicting Wiggins to Kentucky. Wiggins to SMU. The powers that be will want to jump start the program as a viable alternative/backup to UK. hm

Two team race for Wiggins. Kentucky or Florida State. I'm going with FSU. Both his parents were athletes at FSU and by 2014 Cal will be in the NBA.

Thanks for the recaps RDF. Also, for anybody who wants to check out box scores from EYBL, they are all posted online. It's easy to look for specific guys using the list that RDF posted in the OP. www.nikeeyb.com/Events/nikeeybl-session-1

I'm interested in seeing if the staff pursues Kam Williams. The kid can play, and apparently visited for a game late in the season, I forget which one.
Not a point guard, and could bulk up, but he can flat out score and is a good athlete for a kid his size. If he works on his ballhandling, he could be a really good player at the college level.

2 players I really liked--Shane Rector--a PG who likes Hoyas a lot and Rondae Jefferson from Philly. Jefferson is one I forgot to mention and earned it-he is perfect type of player for any program-but especially Georgetown. Out of the Team Final guys--he was one I'd continue to recruit--Sina, Colbert, and Reed aren't as advertised and Colbert is more Ivy League then Big East.

with schollies limited, two I believe avail for'13, who would you take if they wanted to come tomorrow? Hard to say-because I've only seen the '13's who are EYBL guys. Have to see entire class before I can call that--for instance I didn't see Domingo play, didn't see Vonleh (I've heard he could re-classify and know he's had Hoyas in his top 5), etc.....of the EYBL guys who are on Hoyas radar, I am partial to '14 guys but out of '13, I'd want C--Jimmie Taylor PF--Marcus Lee SF--Rondae Jefferson SG--Jajuan Johnson or Kameron Williams PG--Shane Rector Those are realistic right now--and I'm sure III/Staff will add offers which means I could change my list/opinions but if you are asking who would I take out of guys who are seriously considering Georgetown and in '13, these are options. Out of that group--Lee's level of interest in Hoyas is ? mark too--but like him and Torren Jones more then Williams III, and Jefferson was better overall player then King at this event. Johnson outplayed Bluff City teammates as a 2 guard--but if you put Kameron Williams in 2G role-I'd say him-if he's a PG--I'd prefer Rector. If it's 2 guys--I'd day Taylor/Jefferson/Rector as who commits first and other options a step down or in Lee's case--not sure of his legit interest yet.

RDF, how did Jairus Lyles look? He hit a few shots but I think Takeover guards were weakness of team. Like a few coaches said near me "why don't teams just zone them--they can't shoot"-and Lyles hit a few-but takes some bad shots. Hart would hit a few--but has unreliable shot...and they have nobody who can get them into offense. Will Ferguson is back after leaving for Assault and he was not much of a factor at all.

I'm predicting Wiggins to Kentucky. How bold of you. Didn't say it was bold, just seems like a no brainer. Wasn't aware of the FSU connection, so I suppose that can't be ruled out.

IDHoya--tried to answer your question about Rector on other board--but wasn't getting through, so I'll answer here:
My first time seeing Rector was this weekend. He's 6'1-6'2 and has good frame. Plays with nice pace to his game--under control and gets good looks for teammates but what I liked about him--he knew when to score and when to distribute. Played pretty good defense--but as is case with most HS kids--needs to improve in that area. Surprising athleticism-he gets up when he drives in lane and attacks rim. Saw a clip of him last week prior to event where he dunked on Chris Obekpa who is a good shot blocker but seeing him in person-he doesn't look like he's going to get up as high as he does near rim.
Really liked him and he mentioned Hoyas/liking them quite a bit--but as is case--he's open---but did admit Hoyas are not on him that hard--they are in communication but UMass is on him the most right now. Is hearing from other Big East programs too---and saw Seton Hall, Temple, Cincinnati, at his games.

Some interesting weekend perspectives on Hoya previous/current targets from a poster on Scout's national board:
Jahlil Okafor - Made out of concrete, comparison to Sullinger is obvious. Great body control for a player of his age and size, certainly not overweight like Sullinger and frame can probably improve substantially. Not as sure about the offensive game, but on that loaded team shots/good spacing tough to come by.
Troy Williams - Freakish athlete, makes plays around the rim based on pure hops. Amazing in the open floor. Can hit an open shot, but form is poor and it gets downright ugly when contested/off balance. Makes a few hustle plays in the lane. Could be a Rodney Williams/James White type in time. Don't see him as a Top 10 prospect, thought Frazier, Young, Jones and Bird were all better.
BeeJay Anya - Only 6'8, but for once a big guy is projected to the right position - in this case the 5. Anya doesn't run the floor particularly well, but is an insanely quick leaper and blocks a ton of shots it seems like he shouldn't have gotten to. Doesn't look like dominant offensive player, not sure he is #12 but no problem with Top 25 here.
Jonathan Williams - Not sure he's got the upside of a top 10 prospect, but really battled hard vs Okafor on both ends of the floor. Physical and runs the floor hard, flashes of skill, will be ready to contribute immediately.
Tyler Ennis - Not very impressive to me. Hunted his own shot, blamed his teammates too often, underwhelming athlete. Certainly going to be a starting caliber high major PG, but would peg him closer to Top 50 rather than Top 20.
Rondae Jefferson - Looks like he developed early and others starting to catch up. 6'7 face up 4 man who projects to be better than his brother but not sure how much better?
Xavier Rathan-Mayes - Sleeper of the tournament. Not similar to Doron Lamb, a carbon copy of Doron Lamb. Absolutely automatic from anywhere, one of top shooters in the country the moment he steps on college floor. Not a very good athlete, but a bit of pudge he can get rid of that could add some bounce. Fantastic court sense allows him to play some 1, a natural college combo guard. All sorts of stops/starts/fakes on the move, deadly moving off the ball as well. On court leader for CIA bounce. This guy will get his 5th star, count on it.
Nick King - Not overhwelmed by King, I guess. Solid frame, can shoot it a little, surprisingly bouncy off 2 feet. Just don't see where he excels at college level. Not a natural shot creator, not a natural complementary player, stuck between 3 and 4. Looks more like #50 level guy to me.
Kennedy Meeks - An odd prospect, so overweight not sure he can dunk. But plays the entire game, gets back on D, rebounds like a 10 year vet, one of the better passers I've seen out of HS big man. Manhandled Julius Randle just hours after Daraki Johnson shut him down. Clearly hates to lose. If he takes weight off, will be a force. Will be helpful but limited if it doesn't happen.
