Meh. We lost our top 3 scorers and 3 of our top 4 rebounders. We have only one recruit of note coming in. We have a ton of question marks. Not sure why this is so upsetting. As always, we have to prove ourselves on the court next year to EARN any rankings.

Damn.
And I was really hoping he would change his mind after originally not giving us a single mention two weeks ago.
Didn't anyone tell him about Jack Jr.?
And how, according to Twitter, Noel is actually coming here?

I'm a poll junkie, but...preseason (especially one issued many many months before) polls and predictions are meaningless. Who he has at the top? Meaningless. The fact we're not on it at all? Meaningless. These guys have to justify making a living somehow, so they put out this sort of thing. No one takes it seriously, not even them.

I truly believe we'll be a tourney team again next year. In my mind, our most talented players were all freshmen last year - and I think they will all be significantly better in the coming season. The main question marks are with Starks and Moses at PG and C, but I think they'll be good as well.

Starks and Moses will/should be coming off the bench, so I guess you could call it a question mark as to our depth.

With this roster we can definitely be top 15 IMO and then if we can add Pollard and/or Upshaw we could be real good.

Really who is worried about next year's Top 25 in April? I would rather see the development of the returnees lead to a late season surge than preseason rankings. This year was great because they exceeded expectations. Next year could be another great season.

I wouldn't put us in the top 25 either, and I'll be surprised if anyone in the media does.
Next year will be about watching players develop. Will Otto become the national star we all think he can be? Will Greg continue to blossom into a player of note? Will Bowen finally get some PT? Can Nate be more consistent and dominant at the things he does well? Can *anyone* hit a 3-point shot? Can Moses and/or Tyler play like a future starter? Who will lead, with Jason gone?
It will be fun to watch, but I'm certainly not expecting anything big. We're well-coached enough to surprise people, but probably not consistently.

I didn't have high expectations for last year's team, but they won a game in the dance, which is something we couldn't do with all the hamburgers. It's Otto's team now, let's just support them and maybe we will be a lot better than Andy thinks we are.

I understand there are question marks, but I'm really not concerned at all about answering them. I expect this team to compete for the Big East title and go deep in the NCAA tournament. I love our Rising Sophomore class. I really think people are going to be surprised by the production of people they're discounting like Markel, Nate, Moses as well.

I dont always share the optimism of HSB, but I totally agree. I dont see how the world we arent one of the top 40 teams in the country. That basically means Katz doesnt think we are making the tournament next year. Several of the teams he listed lost just as many scorers, if not more, but the difference is, we've proven after losing those players, we can be back in the mix. Why is he so convinced the others will do so, but not us?

Wilbon had us in the final four and Katz had us in the sweet 16 last, so what do they know? I have us in the final four, but I am only a fan.

I just think Porter and Whittington are going to blow up next year, and you'd have to watch the Hoyas too much - and pay too much attention to the stat-suppressing offensive system the team runs - to figure this out - which nobody in the national press has time for. Otto didn't even make the Big East all rookie team - the guy led the Hoyas in rebounding - it's not clear anyone is paying attention - and for Whittington you'd have know how fast he developed late in high school, then you'd have to see through his 4.3 points a game to realize in the last 10-15 games of the season he had grown into a whole new player - the guy who didn't score against NJIT or Howard put up 15 against ND and 11 against Pitt.
Those two guys should anchor a very competitive team next year that should make a run at the tourney and up the polls.
