Well, Holy Cross is off to a quick 12-6 lead against the Irish. Let's see if the "Jilted Irish" can pull their heads out of, well you know, and start playing like a Big East team.

I call this the "Selection Committee Proves To Be Right" theory, it being that the teams that everyone feels got snubbed end up losing (or at least not covering) in their NIT match-ups whereas the reach bubble teams that get picked will win/cover in their NCAA games.
This would bode well for Iowa, NC State, and UAB and poorly for ND and Maryland.
Of course, it's just a theory.

Well, you've also got to consider the fact that Holy Cross is a pretty good team.

I think that part of it is that the teams that felt they got left out use the money from their travel budget that they had saved for the NCAAs to pay for postage...

;D
I think part of is the snubbed teams get all this publicity and get pumped up as being better than they actually are and it affects people perceptions (and moves the line a few points).

Is Quinn not playing? If not, does anybody know why not? His name isn't appearing in the stat materials. That's a significant loss for them. Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing Latimore mentioned, either. Is he playing?

If Lattimore is the one that looks like Shrek, then he's playing, but hasn't really done much, I don't think.

I havent been watching that closely the whole time but I think I saw Lattimore at some point.

BYE CHRIS THOMAS!!
I can't say it was nice getting to know you in your four years at Notre Dame. In fact, I hate you and your ugly Vin Diesel look. So, on that note, I hope you enjoyed getting smacked around by Holy Cross on your home court in your last game.
Good bye and good riddance.

Final: HC 78, Irish 73. First win by the Crusaders over the Domers since 1956.
Little surprise, given ND's attitude entering the game. The teams that win first round NIT games want it a little more than their opponents--remember how uninspired Tennessee looked vs. Georgetown in 2003?

The question is: do we want it versus BU?

The question is: do we want it versus BU? I would say yes. The team's got to be disappointed that they didn't make the NCAA's, but they have to be excited about postseason play. Also, I think JT3 will make sure they know the importance of getting postseason experience. And Bowman, Ashanti and Owens all have experience making an NIT run when they'd had unfulfilled NCAA dreams.

Whoa, did anyone see this coming? ND the "greatest team to ever be snubbed" lost to an upstart team that just won its 25th game. I know ND played without Quinn and Lattimore but HC seemed to be quite a good team that was probably a lot more disappointed not to make the NCAAs. At one point they had 31 more shots than ND, how does that even happen.
Nice job by Brey getting his team up for a home game and how about Chris Thomas going out like a punk. Thomas has been on a steady decline after his sophomore year and will not be drafted and will not be on a NBA roster next year. I wish him well in the German B League.

I don't see a letdown by us happening, as our guys didn't even meet with coach for the NCAA selections. We knew our fate and accepted it on Sunday.
UMD, in my opinion, is a candidate for a let down considering where they are right now.
