It looks like tomorrow's game will be, but for further webcasts (lax and football games, among others) there will be a charge.

Is it really "free of charge"? good question... although I suspect you'll have to give some CC info to log on but also suspect you could cancel after the game (of course they're hoping you'll forget to do so)

I wonder if they'll carry our non-televised games next year?

SWEEEEET! I hope this continues in the future - I'd love to check out lacrosse games too. Props (though a bit premature) to the U for putting this together.

This is great - I don't care about whether they charge or not - just to have the opportunity to watch if you want to - if they charge for future games - who cares - if you don't want to buy - don't buy.

Great stuff!!! I have to give them props for this. Me too. I am glad that our sports programs are gradually updating for the rigors of competition in the 21st century. Hopefully folks can meet up across the country to view this thing on video.

This is great, a few months late, but if they keep it going next season i'll be happy. Considering G-Town had 2 games on national TV in the regular season on ESPN classic, this would be a very useful thing.

This is probably a good time to point out that the Big East's television contract does not allow for video broadcasts for conference games.
A network might agree to pick up a few games, for example, but for the rest, if ESPN or ESPN Plus doesn't produce the game, no else one can. That's why you don't see Comcast or Fox pick up the B.E. games that are not televised.
Conversely, the ACC package is syndicated by Jefferson-Pilot (who took over for the old C.D. Chesley package in the 1970's) and they sell the remaining games to a variety of outlets, incl. ESPN. It's an advertising vehicle for J-P, which is big in the Southeast.
ESPN Plus games on satellite are often left with unfilled advertising, leaving room for those endless ads for ESPN Zone where the gramdma gets to shout "boo-yah" at the often insufferable Stuart Scott. Different business model, but that's where the Big East is right now.
Bottom line, video might be offered for some December men's home games, but not much more for hoops. However, football and lacrosse will benefit tremendously from the coverage.

Texas A&M does it for non-televised games including all home baseball games that aren't on TV. I paid a few dollars for a monthly pass on their site to watch the Clemson series last year.

one game is better than none. I'd be very happy if they did it for some of the non-televised December games next year!

*cough* Cuse game *cough* But that's a Big East game TBird, and as was previously mentioned, that would not be allowed. Hopefully any games against Cuse are televised next year though.

I think what TBird was saying, 07, was that the local Time Warner station in Syracuse actually covered the Syracuse game when it wasn't covered on ESPN-plus. Therefore, there must be some exceptions in the contract with ESPN. I believe we therefore would be able to have webcasts of the games that aren't covered.

It wasn't that I missed the part about Big East games not being coverable!!! It was exactly what HoyaNyr320 said!
