Great news for Hollis. I wish the Lakers had signed him, but I'm still thrilled for him. A renewed Hoya connection for the Thunder!

Dude, just stop. You aren't on a first-name basis with Hollis' mom...All it does is make you sound creepy. The Thompsons have made friends with a lot of the fans, nice people as Glide and Dan have said. You wouldn't know that sittine in NYC, I'll accept your apology for being stupid. Look, if you can't spell or use proper grammar beyond a third-grade level, don't call anyone stupid.

Uh, misdiagnosed? That's not particularly encouraging.

SF Hollis signs 3-year deal, #1 SF Jabari Parker now lists GU. Coincidence?

Uh, misdiagnosed? That's not particularly encouraging. I assume that comment means that the GU team doctor/training staff thought it was a lot less serious than a hernia, which is why Hollis kept playing at less than 100% for the latter part of the season. It's possible that Hollis wasn't fully forthcoming about the extent of his injury, etc. With all of the other medical stuff going on with current and recent former players, I can only begin to imagine how much stress they'll experience as they go forward next year: every tight oblique is a hernia, every Wingos-induced heartburn the trigger for an EKG...

Uh, misdiagnosed? That's not particularly encouraging. Again, we have tons of speculation with no basis in fact. Nobody here has any idea how Hollis Thompson was diagnosed for his sports hernia. It's very feasible that the problem was known, but Thompson chose to play through it because he wanted to finish the season and enter the draft. It could be that simple.

It's very feasible that the problem was known, but Thompson chose to play through it because he wanted to finish the season and enter the draft. It could be that simple. What do you mean by no basis in fact? Go by what has been reported publicly. HT said in pre-draft workouts that he had a groin strain the whole second half of the season. Then he can't make the Knicks' workout because, as was reported, it is actually a sports hernia. Pretty sure we know that's when/how it was diagnosed. Fairly reasonable to conclude that he did not have an accurate diagnosis until then. If he knew it was a hernia before then, why didn't he say that during workouts with pro teams? Why would you not disclose that? More importantly, would he knowingly try to play through a sports hernia? Seems like too much risk there, especially when surgery is a common option, since it almost always involves a tear instead of a strain. It is possible that he knew what it actually back in January, and that he decided to play through it. Could be that simple, sure. But since it now is clear that he was going pro after this year, that III knew he was going pro after this year (and wants to put him in the best possible position to succeed), having him try play through it, as opposed to a more generic strain, would be much too risky IMO. Nevertheless, glad it worked out for him. Learning from KD and Harden is going to be great for him.

On a related note, "hernia" may be one of the top-five most cringe-inducing words in the English language. Hernia, hernia, hernia, hernia, hernia. I feel sick. Heal up and kick some ass, Hollywood!!

A lot of runners have finally been diagnosed with sports hernia. I say finally because the symptoms can be a variety of conditions. Usually several of these conditions are diagnosed first, when in the end, it is the sports hernia.

Anything posted here about what the medical staff did or did not know / diagnose is speculation. Yes, his agent used the word misdiagnosed. That is also the person who landed him in a great spot with a pretty decent contract and who is doing his best to portray his client in the best light.
