I don't understand the mentality of some to disparage the people who leave the program for the NBA or pro basketball. I've seen people say this about Summers, Monroe, Wright, Freeman, Hollis. Things like, "Good riddance to Monroe, he doesn't want to be here" "Monroe needs to stay one more year. He will improve alot and improve his draft position" "Who needs McDonalds all americans when you can find diamonds in the rough like Benimon" "Hollis is making a huge mistake. If he stays one more year he will improve alot. He wants to get right out of here" 100% agree - welcome to this board of trolls ;D

I think Hollis can be an NBA role player. We all know he can shoot, and we all know what he needs to work on - driving, getting his own shot and finishing. Although he didnt vastly improve in these problem areas while at Georgetown, he did improve his shooting, defense and rebounding. This year I thought he drove more although he didnt finish very well.
He seems like a good kid and with some more work on dribbling and creating his own shot, I think he will have an opportunity to be a role player for an NBA team some day. However, I'm not sure that day will be in 2012-2013. The question is where is the best place for him to sure up those last skills. He will likely be taking the Europe or NBDL route, and I wish him luck. That being said, I hope he gets drafted and can get a contract in the NBA for next season.

But if you think Monroe needs to stay one more year. He will improve alot and improve his draft position. is disparaging, then why even have a message board where fans express their opinions?

"Who needs McDonalds all americans when you can find diamonds in the rough like Benimon" Hahahaahaa...I dare you to find this comment anywhere in the history of this Board. It's been mentioned a couple times. Especially in the in game OCC threads: BigElephant: "Remember back in April when Jerrelle signed, so many on this board had the vapors because he wasn't a McD AA? Jt III is smart as a fox and got this one out of the coop in full view of everyone. I LOVE Jerrelle and he's going to be a memorable Hoya. "hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=21082&page=1====================== SWHoya: "This isn't a knock on you ed...I just think it's funny. Half this board wants JTIII to go after unheralded recruits (like it's easy to tell which will blossom in college!) and blames this last season (feels good to say it was last season) on too many McDonald's All-Americans.And then the other half is critical when he gets recruits that might be under the radar. Bottom line: I'd love to have JTIII's job. But I'd also hate it. Welcome Jerrelle! " hoyatalk2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=print&thread=19529

Well, in Big Elephants' defense, very few of us have forgotten Jerelle. And in Jerelle's defense, I'm not really sure we would've been that much better off with our first choice to ask to the prom, Latavious "54 Pages" Williams. Hollis played very well for the Hoyas (OK, didn't always live up to what we wanted/needed him to be and he could disappear sometimes, but I think he gave us his best). In addition, he will be graduating soon from Georgetown University with a business degree. And he represented his school (and the alma mater for most of us) exceptionally well as a student athlete. Given that, I would hope we could just wish him well, thank him for playing for the school we love and leave it at that. I certainly don't see the need to speculate on weird motives that seem to have no verifiable basis in reality. Well, other than that it's an Internet message board, after all. Which I think someone has pointed out. ;D

And in Jerelle's defense, I'm not really sure we would've been that much better off with our first choice to ask to the prom, Latavious "54 Pages" Williams. Latavious averaged 13.2 / 8.6 in 27 mpg and shot 64% in the NBDL in what would have been his sophomore season, and 9.2 / 7.4 in 25 mpg on 58% shooting in Spain's top league this season. Would not have changed the program, but would have been a dominant college rebounder.

I'm pretty sure the original post was pointing out that he never was eligible, not that his skillset was comparable to Benimon.
