Ugh, this game is reminding me of everything I hate about the NCAA tournament. Mid-majors, super fast midget guards, teams going unconscious from three, second half collapses, and NCAA Tournament officiating. Needless to say, I'm super excited for Friday. It's everything I love about the NCAA tourney; it's everything I hate about Georgetown playing in the NCAA tourney

Uh, Tim Cluess..that was bad, very bad. Yes, disappointed with Tim that he didn't stop the bleeding. He must have felt similar to when he was coaching my HS team vs Mt Zion, Tracy McGrady's HS team.

Seth Davis just went all-in on Cal. I think USF wins this game cause Cal will find it hard to score. Seth Davis cites how many PPG's they average a game. Its not gonna matter, and this is why his logic for picking Belmont will falter too. Cal hasn't played against a team that plays as hard as BE teams do.

USF is taking it to Cal right now. Cal has only scored 13 pts and USF is shooting over 70%.

i am thinking of making USF my new 'cuse.
It's a far more tempting proposition to take in a game at their house. they are an up and coming program that will probably give us more headaches in the future than it has in the past, not that it hasn't Editeded us off in ways that we can build on. I doubt they are actually spawned by satan like our old rivals were, but i imagine our institutions are as different as GU and SU in other important ways we can scandalize. their cheerleaders certainly outsmoke 'cuse, who cling to tightly to assistant cheerleading coach laurie fine in my mind. we can take this new rivalry somewhere

The Pac-12 is officially a mid-major.
Hopefully Seth is as accurate with all his picks as he is with his pick for tonight.

Wow...36-13 at the half. I know we've seen a few comebacks already but with the kind of defense USF plays I don't see that happening.

LOL@Seth Davis reasoning why Cal is losing. Part of it is effort, but scoring isn't the and all and be all he is making it out to be. USF plays great D, and when a team hasn't seen a defense of a certain level you have to adapt. Plus Cal only plays 6-7 players. You have to work hard for points as a TEAM. I knew Cal didn't have that in them

What's the over-under on the USF-Temple game going to be? 30? 40?

The score is most definitely not indicative of how in control USF was the whole game.

What was the committee thinking putting Cal in the tournament in the first place. They had 0 wins against the top 50 of the RPI! 0! Their RPI was decent, but they were 0-3 against teams in the top 50 and only won 8 games against the top 100. 2 loses to teams out side the top 100.

For shame. But does it really change the group of 64?

Watching my home state team- U of Vermont Catamounts-thump Lamar and it's absolutly moronic coach, I was reminded of the Hoyas: very patient offense which produces high percentage shots, but they really rely on their tough defense and rebounding. Most important player is a 6'6" power forwrd that leads team in assists and rebounding ( Brian Voekel). Very unselfishunch. There is one area where they are very unlike the Hoyas, however: they do not turn the ball over- only 5 last night. Imagine if the Hoyas only turned the ball over 5 times a game- they'd never lose. Of Note: coach Becker has DC and Hoya roots; his predecessor Lonergan coached Catholic U. to Div. 3 title and is now back in DC coaching GW

Congrats to USF. Even though UConn won last year, it wasn't a strong year for the BE in the tourney. Outside of Cuse & WVU, I would love to see some strong first weekend performances.

I hate Gottleib as much as anyone, but if you listen to him as a color announcer during the few games or even when he is not antagonizing fan bases, at least he knows basketball. Seth Davis is a moron. I cant believe he landed that spot.

Watching the Loiusville/Davidson game instead of studying Renal Physiology...If Lousiville didn't foul so much they'd be in complete control of this game. Up 33-25 at the half.

Looks like the BIG EAST is continuing a strong start, early in the 'Ville game, and way early in the Marquette battle.

Definitely rooting for all the Big East teams this year. Just to stick it to some of the "experts."
Please note: this does not include Syracuse. That corrupt program is 100% the property of the ACC.
(Probly doesn't include UConn either, but I'm tempted to root for them more than I ever have been in any previous year).
