The real win today is that we have officially made it impossible for Ranch's 10-8 prediction to come true.

A lot has been made of the Starks benching. I thought Otto played a great game, and he was especially solid with his mid-range jumpers. As for Starks: since the L'ville game (the last time I can recall Markel having a really excellent game), he is 26-70 FG (37.1%) and 13-44 from 3 (29.5%). His A/T ratio isn't bad during this stretch (23:19), but he's had several instances where he can't stay on the court because he can't avoid the two early fouls. To be honest, disciplinary reason or not, his play over the last two months doesn't justify having him start over Porter. Good point -- the lineup change made sense in any case. Hopefully Markel will note that they won by 21 without him. If the story is true, I'm surprised he would test JTIII like that.

The real win today is that we have officially made it impossible for Ranch's 10-8 prediction to come true. Also I believe this clinched the best conference record and BET seed since 2008. Good achievement, but strange to consider.

Ed, DirecTv showed the game, you should have watched it on your TV. Guess you think I'm too old to determine if I could watch the game on TV. Directv did not carry the Hoya game here in Charleston, neither on the CBS channel or the alternate channel 729 which listed the game but which stated over and over again the game was blacked out in this area. You are correct. Channel 729 is available only to DirecTV customers with the ESPN Full Court package.--AdminI don't have ESPN Full Court, and it was on 729-1 here in Atlanta, where CBS was showing UCLA-AZ instead of our game.

Made the trip down to watch the game today. Nova was expecially chippy today despite being an awful team this year. Hopefully they get their acts together because I enjoy these games more when they are evenly matched. The dirty play by Nova was typical fare, I think it stood out more today because it was a little silly to act tough when you cannot score 50 points.
I was fairly sure Markel would be benched today, I posted that article about him refusing to listen to JT3 in the SHU discussion thread. I think it is a one game thing, but the point was made. As for the line-up change, I found it great for a game against short-handed Nova, but the Hoyas need 2 legit ballhandlers or we will be inviting teams to press us.
Great effort on defense and the boards today, Otto had the mid-range going and Clark was solid as always. I really enjoy watching Clark continue to make plays, he is closing his career out the right way. If Hollis had his shot today this game would have gotten ugly. He had a few wide-open looks that are usually automatic and the foul shooting simply needs to be fixed, but his hustle was evident all game.
Good, solid performance by the Hoyas. Hope we bring that defense on Monday.

Like the Ty-Jabril matchup! Jabril owned Ty. There was a lot of smack between those two...they clearly don't like each other.

Regarding rankings: First of all, I get you should't put too much stock into them but its part of our fun as fans. I was actually looking at them yesterday, and although 8 sometimes feels way too high for this young squad, you look at the list and believe that we really could beat, more times than not, most teams below us so not sure how "over ranked" we are. Honestly, before the game started, the right losses for other teams and us having a great run in the big east tournament ala Cuse in 2006 could have had as had pushed up further. Taking a look at UNLV, they had 2 road losses, one of those in overtime, and a stomping like we just got, and they fell 10 spots. It'll be interesting to see what happens to us. Villanova has to be a dominating win if the sting is going to be taken off of this loss. I think the sting of the previous loss has been taken off

They do suck. At least Billy P. is gone. He was always a jerk and a Gtown hater Packer was the best in the business IMO.

I'm one of about three people in the country who still enjoy Vitale, and I can't find the other two, but Packer was way too negative for my taste. Also, I credit him with starting the now-obsession with commenting on every officiating play, which IMO diminishes the enjoyment of watching the athletes.

Packer was a lot easier to listen to after Big John saved his ass after called Iverson a monkey. Big John could have hung his ass out to dry and didn't. Amazingly, Packer then got off his decade and a half crusade against the Hoyas. Kind of funny how that worked out.

The kid behind the bench I'm pretty sure was Josh Hart.
