Place is a disaster right now, and you really gotta feel for Lavin. Almost as bad of a situation as UConn, actually worse in terms of roster. The verdict won't be rendered until May, when his number of commits will be clearer. But Lavin has plenty of rope anyway, should he choose to use it. SJU historically has been very top-down in how they run the basketball program -- Father Harrington's word has been the law there, no matter who the AD is. He viewed the hoops coach as a school employee, not an independent contractor -- this is why he stuck with Norm Roberts as long as he did (and, conversely, showed Jarvis and Fran F. the door in short order, although Jarvis had other issues). Alumni pressure and a small mountain of bad press have swung the pendulum the other way -- Lavin has much more independence than Roberts ever did.

Neither Clark nor Markel has a handle that strikes fear in a defender that they could drive past them or make them brake their ankles with a crossover dribble. IDK, Jason has taken his man to the hoop consistently this year. At big times, too.
