It is definitely not the RPI, Sagarin index, KenPom metric, or the Vegas odds.
These metrics/equations are much simpler, and dare I say, more accurate in predicting my level of anxiety for every game.
Henry's average PPG + Jason's average PPG + Hollis' average PPG + team FG defense % = win.
No mystery there. Our upperclassmen play well with contributions from our supporting cast, and no mistakes from our bench - we win. Having these three guys score well during a game means that we have a balanced inside-outside attack. Hard to beat us when we are that efficient. It may still mean a close game, but I like our chances.
Experienced, talented player/s on opposing team + tough-minded coach + physical play = loss. Kansas, WVU, Cinci, and Pitt - all these teams have at least 2 out of 3 of these characteristics. We are a young, finesse team coached by a leadership-by-example-type coach. We always seem to struggle when we face these JT2-type teams. Ironic.
Based on this metric, how do we finish BE play? USF - No Maalox - They are a finesse team too with a young backcourt. Cuse - Maalox - Talent and experience with Scoop, Triche, and Kris Joseph; may get physical with Melo back and Waiters having played poorly recently STJ - No Maalox - Not enough talent/experience/toughness Prov - No Maalox - Tough coach but not enough talent (this year, at least) SHU - No Maalox - Another finesse team despite Pope. Theodore will be a load but not enough talent to support his play. Nova - No Maalox - A finesse tam pretending to be tough. We have had their number. They will hack and we will score. ND - Some Maalox - This is tough. Without Hansborough, they do not have the toughness from last year. But they always seem to play out of their minds against us. They are very efficient on O and are also playing good D. Plus Brey will be BE COY - again! Quette - Maalox - They have the trifecta! Do not want to see these guys in any tournament, BE or NCAA. They are like Cinci, only better.
To the moderators, I am not predicting who will win these games. I do not guarantee any wins or losses. I am not responsible for how this information will be used on the interwebs. Plus, I do not care about the very poor, Spanish is the language of the ghetto, and I like to fire people. (Turns around three times and spits on the ground)

Crazy? Crazy smart. That's the type of analysis that gets printed in esteemed sports websites like Bleachers Report and Espn ocho.

Four out of five. Not bad. I would have preferred to be wrong on both losses, of course. Methinks we close out conference play winning two out of three. 12 and 6 - not bad for a team most thought would struggle to be a .500 squad at the beginning of the year.
By the way, nobody remembers who won the regular season except the ones who won the regular season. So I am not too upset even if we miss getting the double-bye. What most people remember is post-season success.
UConn, the NY Giants, Butler... only a few examples of how peaking at the right time equates to the perception of success. It is how you close out and perform in the big stage when everyone is watching.
We have shown the ability to play well in marquee match-ups. That's why we are ranked in the top ten. Time to live up to the recognition come tourney time.

Thanks. I appreciate your generosity. By the way, New Order may be one of the most underrated bands of the 80's. English Beat is another one.
Just trying to start a conversation with the fans of the program. I really don't mind not getting any responses. I figure that will begin to happen when I end up having 1000 posts or so.
Geez, it's not like I lied about receiving the medal of valor. Now maybe that will provoke some replies.

Thanks for asking, Nevada. The Blue Eagles of Ateneo won their fourth straight men's basketball championship. They are essentially the equivalent of UNC, UK, and Duke when it comes to dominating the recruiting and the actual games. They have a point guard nicknamed The Phenom and a 7-foot center called Slaughter.
If only our Hoyas were as dominant.

I see you are using Ockham's razor. It is always the simplest answer/metric that makes the most sense. You are a wise man, lichoya. LIC - Large and In Charge.

This must be some bizarre alter ego you have created for yourself. I suppose an alter ego is not bad to have in your mid-sixties. Lichoya, are you Leo O'Donovan, SJ?
Love the energy though. I guess it's the byproduct of eating a lot of bananas. Are you typing on an iPad or with your toes? An EE Cummings fan, perhaps?

Sorry, LIC. Didn't mean for that to come off mean-spirited. Just poking a little fun. I made at least one person laugh.

Ok, 6 out of 7. I would not mind being 6 out of 8. Not at all.
As far as I am concerned, we are now playing with house money. Go into Marquette and play loose. The pressure is on them as it is their home court and they will be celebrating senior day. Nothing else to prove this regular season.
All those who predicted 10-8 can enjoy sour vinaigrette.
