another absolutely unwatchable espn telecast of a duke game. patrick is wrose than vitale with the duke loving. patrick called reddick one of the best shooters EVER. vitale, to no ones surprise, named reddick his national player of the year. i was waiting for pukie v to name him to the nba all league first team. the entire telecast was devoted to duke. the only time they mentioned nc state was when they made or missed a basket, got a rebound, or committed a foul. the way these two suck asses gush over duke is another embarrassment to the already pathetic espn.

seriously, that was horrid. How does Patrick keep a straight face....Do you recall when the game was in the last five minutes or so and Patrick said it sucks for NC State in a close game, because when they have to foul, Reddick, "the best free throw shooter who ever lived" (I just vomited) will be on the line.
I mean Duke is good, Reddick is a nice player, but must we have this crammed down our throat every single time they play? NC State played a pretty good game, but as you said, any mention of them was just to take a brief rest from the Duke love-fest.....Patrick makes Vitale's praise seem tame....

Alright, I was at that game and I've got to say Reddick's 3's were pretty unbelieveable.
Half of them he had 3 people jumping at him as he faded away. I swear his heels were on the sideline once. The man had no business making most of his 7 treys and he had the entire crowd laughing in amazement (or bitterly cursing) as they all swished through the net.
I didn't get to lsiten to Vitale and Patrick, but if any game he actually deserved the lovin', it was this one. It was pretty amazing.

listen, i think reddick is a very good player, but the way they gush over him and the rest of the dukies is sickening. it's the same as syracuse fans that think mcnamara is gods gift to basketball when he can't even shoot 40%.

Did the media treat our last truly amazing player, AI, with this type of respect and reverence? I was in early high school at the time and didn't read anything but the Washington Post in regards to the Hoyas. I guess the question I'm asking is whether the media love-fest is over the player or the Duke program? Perhaps the combination of the two?
(I'm finally a starter!)

I guess the question I'm asking is whether the media love-fest is over the player or the Duke program? Perhaps the combination of the two? The area media treated AI lke the star he was. But the national media (especially Vitale) didn't fawn over him to the extent they do Reddick. Let me add that The ESPN ACC coverage is blacked out in the DC area and we are stuck with the syndicated package. Normally I hate those coverages but considering Vitale and Patrick were the alternatives I didn't ahve any complaints. Didn't even bother watching the Duke and NC State game however. Had absolutely no interest.

I think we have to give the (Blue) Devil his due. Reddick was fantastic against NC State. So much so that Dukie V. reportedly had four orgasms during the game, and had to be removed from the arena afterwards on a stretcher. (Un)fortunately, he was back at MCI for today's Georgia Tech game!
