I noticed last night that State seems to have a lot more movement towards the basket and a lot more penetration. They seem to use their penetration more to open-up things for their perimeter people. We tend to swing things around the perimeter looking for the open-shot...
I think I like State's offense a little more because it seems to open-up the floor for more lay-ups...
But then again, State has been running it a lot longer than us...and they have much better perimeter shooters...
Anybody else see the WolfPack play?

I think it is more a matter of personnel than offense. They have more penetrators. So they pentrate more.

I agree, it's personnel. We need a penetrating PG in the worst way. That guy on WVU, JD Collins, would be a great fit on the Hoyas. I hope one of the incomings, maybe Thornton, can come up here.
Thoughts?

Yeah, they've just got better personel.
Everyone can shoot the ball well, but Evtimov (and Hodge to a degree) are snipers.
And I think they got more lay ups because teams had to play them man-to-man, which opened lanes up inside. Because we never consistently were great shooters, teams took their licks and let us shoot all the jumpers we wanted. If we started knocking those down, teams would be forced to play us up close, the zones would disappear, and and we'd see more backdoor stuff and penetrating.
NC State was a lot of fun to watch the past weekend. Made me excited for our future offense.

i agree ther, jimmy. just think about how many times our offense gave us wide open looks. if you don't knock em down consistently, defenses just pack it in to prevent cutters from getting the ball. If you make them, though, you open lots of stuff up. I think our problem was that we only had spotty shooting AND we didn't have great penetrators. We need to improve both in the coming years, and it sounds like coach is recruiting hard to make just that happen
