I had forgotten about the Esherick rant - that one was great!

Not going to get tons of hype because he's doing it so quietly but Hibbs starting off the series really well just being a great presence on d and getting quiet points on offense. His teammates are getting a little lazy on rebounding though.
And of course now the heat are killing them while they rest Roy.

Yup, he had a lapse early letting bosh get an easy J. But overall he's playing very well

Man the pacers are getting hosed on calls - that charge call on barbosa was pathetic. Miller was jumping sideways/into him and his feet weren't even on the ground.

What, the Heat getting all the calls? That can't be true. David Stern would never let that happen. Plus, it's not like Hibbert went from 1 foul to 4 fouls in a matter of minutes. Or that Bosh, Wade and Lebron have a total of zero personal fouls in the fourth quarter.

Stop blaming Stern and the Heat. Miami actually drives to the basket with a purpose in mind. Indiana barely drives at all. What's worse Indiana still can't make interior passes and the perimeter players can't create for others. Also they fail to get all they can out of Roy when he is on the floor. He needed to take at least six more shots than he ended up taking today. The Pacers need to get as much production as possible out of him while he is on the court, because his minutes are probably going to be limited.

I absolutely agree the pacers guards are a little selfish and they suffer from bad decision making (often neglecting Roy though he struggled to get position today) but it is impossible to defend the NBA's consistent pattern of giving a handicap to its stars and darling teams. I had forgotten why I had given up on the NBA for so long until I watched the game again today. Not only were there consistently bad calls throughout the game but there were two blatant important series where even the announcers called it out (the Miller 'charge' and the series in the 4th where the pacers three point shooter was hit taking the shot with no call and then there was a whistle on the other end for even less contact). This was the Davidson game on steroids. What's even sadder is that ever since the '06 finals the NBA hasn't even hid this. When brilliant all time talents like LBJ and Wade mar their game with flopping and bitching like they do they deserve to lose respect from fans.

I'm sure ABC has an interest in it too. They are aching for a Heat-Lakers or a Heat-Thunder series. There will be no collateral damage.

When brilliant all time talents like LBJ and Wade mar their game with flopping and bitching like they do they deserve to lose respect from fans. Wait. You folks complain about bad fouls after virtually every Gtown game. It has nothing to do with the NBA, it has EVERYTHING to do with whining basketball fans who always think the refs are against the teams they are rooting for. It has been mentioned a thousand times on this board and will probably need to be mentioned a thousand times again. The refs tend to favor the aggressors because of, well, their aggression. Miami isn't settling for jumpshots, the Heat are driving to the basket. Heck even when Indiana manages to get it inside you tend to have West taking fallaway jumpers and Roy taking hookshots, the type of interior shots that DO NOT draw contact most of the times. Indiana has a hard time getting key opponents into foul trouble (as Hoya fans we should be familiar with this considering we don't tend to get our key opponents in any foul difficulty either). Of course today's game wasn't called perfectly. There was a lean towards Miami. That happens often; the home team gets calls in their favor. Seriously where were all these complaints when that Jordan guy was playing? Casual fans were sucking up to the NBA during the Jordan days; they were so in love with that guy they failed to notice that he NEVER fouled out. And I disagree about Roy not being able to get position. What are some of you looking at? Only Shaq could get his ground anytime he wanted and hold off his defender for a half hour. Everyone else needs the ball fed to them quickly. The Pacers simply don't have the type of perimeter guys who can get a good, clean pass into their big men in that split second or two.

Are you actually going back to the Kings and Lakers? That's like going back to Maryland and Duke in the Final Fout a decade ago? There have been thousands of games played since then. And by the way I was rooting big time for the Kings in that series and the I felt the refs were favoring the Lakers. But that doesn't mean it always plays out like that.

I know the season isn't over but is there any idea of whether Roy will stay with Indiana or not?

By all appearances, he seems to like it there. Surprised if he wants to move.

Roy got a nice compliment from the Miami fans, when they booed the refs when they called a foul on Paul George that would otherwise have been Roy's sixth. They wanted Roy off the floor.

MCI, I am a pacers homer pre-Roy as I am from there and that was a poorly called game. Every pacers starter had four plus. The and one take away against Barbosa and the and one for Chalmers (notice no wade/LBJ) were terrible. That being said, the Pacers choked it away.
Poorly time free throw misses, dead cold at the end despite great looks, dumb plays (George Hill). The Pacers can get it done but will need to win the next one to make it a long series. If we can get it to seven, I like our chances.

It's not just that game. Wade and James almost always intentionally initiate a bump when they drive even when the defender is playing straight up and trying to avoid contact. They get calls on a lot of plays that should be no-calls. James also often pushes when he is blocked out on rebounds and never gets called for it.

Yes, I too am shocked, absolutely shocked, to discover that NBA Superstars get favorable calls.
