Unsurprisingly, the biggest improvement area for him is cutting down on fouls. While he scores and rebounds decently well in his time on the court, he's fouled out in 11 or less minutes twice already...

But, although it would not surprise me that he could score in the NBA, I cannot imagine him playing any defense whatsoever without fouling.

McHale said about a week ago that Smith would likely make the team and be sent down to the developmental farm team in Rio Grand Valley Texas.

"Josh is learning our system," coach Kevin McHale said. "He's got a nice skill set. He's got good hands. He's got good feet. He's got to get in better shape, but he's working at it. Every time somebody is out, other people have a chance to play. Right now, Josh is getting a great opportunity to play a lot of minutes." More than that, McHale seemed to indicate Smith is the most likely candidate to take the final roster spot. When asked if Smith would be better served working on his conditioning with the Rockets or the D-League Vipers, McHale spoke of needing Smith around."Depending on where we're at, he might be up here for a while," McHale said. "We need big bodies. He's got an opportunity. He has a pretty good feel. He has a pretty good sense of what he's doing. He's just got to get in better shape and keep improving." www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/article/Rockets-Smith-doing-utmost-to-fill-big-man-shoes-6576686.php

Otto with a solid game last night against the Heat. Got a lot of praise from Hubie Brown throughout the broadcast. Started the game and finished with 14 pts (4-7 FG/1-3 3FG/5-6 FT), 6 Reb, 3 Ast, 2 Blk in 30 minutes, playing mostly with John Wall. He ended the game with a +17, highest on the team.
PS Miami pulled out a comeback win by keeping Wade and starters in the game in fourth quarter playing against the end of the Wiz's bench.

Wow. If Josh sticks in the league, I think that'll make just 1 year where a center for us didn't make the NBA. Wasn't there 1 season between Sims and Josh's transfer? Anyway, amazing track record for JTIII. And I bet it continues with Govan.
