I still don't understand the Granger trade from the perspective of the Pacers. Why fix what ain't broke? Evan Turner is not exactly a big upgrade.

I still don't understand the Granger trade from the perspective of the Pacers. Why fix what ain't broke? Evan Turner is not exactly a big upgrade. They thought they were hedging their bets on Lance Stephenson coming free agency just in case someone maxes him. They just picked a bad player to trade for. Evan Turner is a player who to be effective needs to have the ball and likes to pound it into the ground. He also turns it over alot. So much so on sixer message boards he is referred to as Evan Turnover.

But are Turner's deficiencies (especially with regard to the TOs) well known by everyone but the Pacers? That's the part I don't get. I think the hedge part isn't the worst move. But Turner? Maybe the Pacers thought they could develop him or change his role a bit? I don't get that part at all. Maybe they thought a guy like George could help him?

From the Simmons' mailbag:
Q: What’s the best-case scenario for Washington in the playoffs and going forward? Is there a worse GM-Coach pairing in the league than Grunfeld-Wittman? Wait, is there a worse head coach in the history of the league than Randy Wittman? He’s coached over 500 games and has a winning percentage of .362. How do we get rid of these guys!? —Martan, Washington, D.C.
SG: Your Wittman stat stunned me, so I had to look it up. Exactly 57 NBA coaches have lost at least 300 games. Only one of those coaches also won at least 70 percent of his total games (Phil Jackson); four more won at least 60 percent (Red Auerbach, Pat Riley, Gregg Popovich and Jerry Sloan); 26 more won at least 50 percent; 14 more won at least 45 percent; nine more won at least 40 percent; and only three won less than 40 percent. Those three coaches?
Tom Nissalke: 248-391, .388 winning percentage Wes Unseld: 202-345, .369 winning percentage Randy Wittman: 187-329, .362 winning percentage
That’s right, the two least competent coaches of the 300-Loss Club passed through the Washington basketball vortex! How is that even possible???

But with Ariza still feeling the effects of the flu and Webster struggling with his shot, Wittman decided to call on the rookie and he helped the Wizards rally from a 32-18 deficit to take a 38-36 lead when Wall found him under the basket for a layup. The run began with Andre Miller spotted Porter trailing on the opposite wing and tossed a lob that third overall pick from Georgetown threw down with both hands. Porter’s teammates hopped up from their seats to celebrate on the bench. “At Georgetown, they shoot nothing but layups. We were kind of surprised to see a dunk,” Beal said with a laugh. “That oop is from my high school days, running and getting alley-oops. I still got it,” said Porter, who is graduated from high school three years ago. “But [Brad]’s right. Georgetown, very few dunks.”

GU is the butt of jokes. Btw, in Otto's case, dunking is against his nature since high school. Evidence? Check out his high school highlight youtube video with AC/DC's Thunderstruck. Not one dunk in 4:00 mins of highlights! I remember commenting at the time that he was perfect for GU because he didn't dunk. That said, get ready for the "Bowen, Peak and Cope Dunk Show" next year!

That rebound at 1:30 is why Porter not playing is a crime. That was strictly hustle and reading the situation.

I have to wonder if the reason GU players weren't allowed to dunk was the exceedingly high number of dunks Macklin and Summers missed sending the ball into the stands out of bounds! Seems like Bowen has landed more dunks than anyone else his height at GU in a long time!

Jabril started dunking more too when he came back from the injury. And Josh probably dunked more in 12 games than Monroe, Hibbert and Sims combined during their years at Gtown. Okay that last one is an exaggeration.

Give Otto more minutes. Period. He'll be just fine.
