As the thread title says, it is time for new expectations. This team might be very young, but it is talented and it is GOOD. Porter's a stud, Clark, Hollis and Starks have all upped their games, and Sims.....well....SIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMMSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! This is not a bubble team, this is a team that should be taking dead aim at a Big East title. We are Georgetown, and we don't rebuild, we reload. HOYA SAXA!

Yes, time for new expectations: I've gone from predicting a solid win over Bama to predicting a solid win over NJIT.

Agree with the OP. It would have been true even if Hollis missed that shot.

My bogey of .500 in the league remains in place. But we may be good enough to shoot par or birdie.

Contrary to popular belief, I am neither a player or a coach for the Hoyas. So I don't think threads like this are dangerous at all.

This is still a young team, and I fully expect some major roadbumps, especially in conference play.
With that said, they are exciting and play with a lot of heart, against a backdrop of formerly low expectations. That's a recipe for a fun season to watch.

My bogey of .500 in the league remains in place. But we may be good enough to shoot par or birdie. In last year's Big East, sure. But the Big East has some real stinkers this year. We should be 11-7 no problem, especially with our home & home schedule of Providence, St. Johns & Marquette. By the way, even if we go 9-9, we are in the tourney. Book it.

Yes, we will have disappointments along the way. But this team played 3 top 12 teams so far, won 2 of 3 and lost the other by 4. None were home games. One stopped a 24 game home win streak for the opposition.
Our guys are going to be right in the middle of things in the BE and I expect a much higher finish than 10th!

Our problems the last couple of years have been in March, not early in the season.
Just enjoy the ride.

Personally, I think the fact that the country had such low expectations for our program this year really lit the fire in our players. I haven't seen a team play with this type of intensity for JT3 in a long time.
We don't have any real "oh Edited he has the ball" type of players this year, a la benimonster, and because of that, we don't have to have the ball in the hands of an austin or chris at the last 3 seconds of the shot clock. 8/9 guys that III plays have the ability to make plays and they do so with hustle. Even Caprio has shown that he can make shots.
Yes, it's true that we won't win every game we play and we might even lose to some lesser competition, but there is no doubt in my mind that the games will be close and these young men will be working their a$$es off on both sides of the court. I am very excited to watch this team play and to see the freshman develop!
On a side note, it is extremely encouraging that JT3 is giving the freshman as much run as he is this year. When is the last time you can remember 4 freshman coming off the bench in a JT3 game vs a top 15 team?

Encouraging signs last night, and without a doubt this will be a fun and exciting team to watch. But we have a long way to go. During the two minute stretch last night where we blew our lead, it was due to some pretty fundamental mistakes, especially on the offensive end. And let's not forget that while our offensive sets often befuddle new opponents and coaches, our friends in the Big East know our tricks.
Prediction -- the season will still come down to a very critical two game homestand in late February, but jury's still out on whether it will be fighting for a two-game bye or one-game bye.
