Henry should take some pointers from the guy that was sitting behind the Hoyas bench last night, Jahidi, and dunk every ball you get your hands on within three feet of your basket. He uses the backboard too much. I had the same complaint about Monroe.

Loved that he still wanted to take important shots after missing at Memphis and after struggling last night. Yep. Kind of crazy that he has become the type of player that you want to see demand the ball late in the game. He just seems a bit unlucky around the rim right now - I'm sure those shots will start to fall more consistently. Agreed. Plus, I think that his height and quickness force the weakened defender to commit on help defense, creating space for one of the Hoyas to put back a miss or get an offensive rebound (which is helping our offensive reboundig generally and at the end ofgames specifically) I don't think that was true of Julian

He uses the backboard too much. I had the same complaint about Monroe. Henry has missed a few in close that he could have thrown down. Jahidi had to dunk it otherwise it was not going in. FYI, Henry has 98 Ast (45 this year) in his career compared to 23 for Jahidi. Jahidi: www.hoyabasketball.com/features/top100/j_white.htm

He was getting hacked and pushed. Terribly reffed game. Just because he's big doesn't mean it isn't a foul. It is a foul and Henry Sims should go to the free throw line 50 times a game!

The refs hurt Henry to a large degree yesterday, but what I continue to appreciate is he does not back down or get frustrated. He continues to play well on defense, make free throws when he does get the call and remains one of our most active players on both sides. That is what makes Henry so much better this season. He will learn to finish in BE play.
This type of refereeing is also the reason JT3 has such a tough time getting Ws in conference. It is just the way it is, I would like to see III politicing more on the sideline with the refs. If the Hoyas played in the ACC they would be 11-5 annually. At home, JT3 has to get the refs to call the holds and the grabbing or his offense simply does not work and we get what happened yesterday.

At home, JT3 has to get the refs to call the holds and the grabbing or his offense simply does not work and we get what happened yesterday. The refs are always an easy cop-out excuse for not winning a game but come on. You can't possibly blame his entire conference record on them. Also, getting JT3 to bitch more won't convince the refs to agree with him. Do you seriously think that a ref will change a call just because he's getting yelled at? Maybe players like Benimon or someone were the reason that III has apparently had "such a tough time getting W's", instead of his generally composed sideline behavior. Do you really want III to become just as whiny as all of the other coaches that we play? I'm glad his behavior and actions on the sideline sets him apart. As for yesterday, the refs not calling tacky fouls on the slightest possible contact is actually a good thing, and has no reflection on how we played yesterday. We shot poorly not because they tugged a jersey every once in a while, but because they forced the ball to Nate Otto Greg and Jabril who couldn't knock down the open shots that they gave them.

Why are we blaming his conference record on anything? What is there to blame?
He's 75-39 in BE Regular Season play over his tenure, in what has been the toughest conference in the land. He's 11-6 in the BE tournament -- which is fantastic considering it has byes (when your team is better you get less games to rack up wins) and all but one team ends with a loss. That's 86-45 in BE play.
The conference is tough. It's not any tougher on JTIII.

They weren't calling tacky fouls. They weren't calling any fouls unless they were really flagrant or on the perimeter. Both ways, tho. So I'm kind of ok with it. Old school Big East. But it is part of the reason Sims couldnt hit more than 2. He was bumped and shoved hard everytime he touched the ball down low. And almost everytime he went up, one of them laid a not gentle hand on him. If it had been a Big 10 or ACC game he would have gone to the line 20 times. Part of the problem is he waited a little too long while he decides to shoot it or pass it, and got smothered.

Part of the problem is he waited a little too long while he decides to shoot it or pass it, and got smothered. Bingo. That's the one thing I still wish he did better. But, hey, I'll take this year's Hank - overall he's been a real asset.
