The only way Porter stays all 4 years here is if he absolutely wants to. I see him going the Jeff Green route with 3 years max. He's on several draft big boards already, and I see him putting in a lot of work over the summer and continuing to get better and working his way up the draft board.

I think Henton gets more votes than Drummond. And its not particularly hard to make the case for a few others either because Drummond plays on a pretty bad team.

Otto is a very good player but this year long gushing seems a bit overboard. He's still growing into his game and has made a lot of freshmen mistakes this year. Some people on here talk about him like he's the next Carmelo or Kevin Durant. That being said, no one is doubting that he's going to be a great 3-4 year player for us. Hollis isnt a great ballhandler but his handle is equally as steady if not steadier than Ottos. Also Hollis should be groomed as a 2/3 in the NBA and Otto as more of a 3/4. Hollis should be handling the ball and playing up top on the zone. If you think 6'8 Otto is keeping quick 6'1 guards in front of him at the top of the zone youre crazy. Otto is a better defender, rebounder and has a better court sense - all of which are important for the back of the zone. I don't think anyone has compared him to Durant or Melo or anyone else of that caliber. That being said, I can't think of a glaring mistake he's made all year other leaving that preening schmo uncovered in OT last week. He stepped on the baseline during the final possession against Cincinnati.

Dieng is not a freshman he played last year at Lville. Not only is Dieng a sophomore, HE IS OLDER THAN HENRY SIMS

Love Otto. But let's be frank: he still has gaps in his game. If he can develop a better shooting touch and extend his range, he will be a BEAST. Jeff wasn't a great 3 point shooter (I'll let the statisticians correct me if I'm wrong on that) but he was respectable enough to hurt you if you didn't guard him out there. My sense is that Jeff was a better shooter and finisher his freshman year, although he was called on to do more.
Once Otto develops his offensive game and range a bit more...look out. The scouts will come.

I actually hope Otto does not over emphasize his 3 point shooting touch this summer. I personally think he should focus more on the 12-15 foot jumper from baseline, elbow, and FT line.

He's already money from there. He needs to work on his 3pt shot and his ball handling. He already has the midrange game down pat.

While I suppose Jeff had more range as a freshman, I think Otto has better perimeter skills overall. His midrange shot is definitely better. That 10-15 footer of his is pretty close to automatic. That said, Jeff had a post game and was already a plus passer, and Otto hasn't shown much of either.

Jeff was a polished post player from day one. When he got the ball within 6 feet of the hoop, you could count it based on one of several post moves he displayed. Haven't seen Otto post up this year, and I'd like to see him focus on that given his size along with the passing and overall game from the Jeff/Greg/Henry position at foul line. Otto can then work on outside shooting between his soph and junior years to be an All-America type player as a junior like Jeff.

Otto is an awesome talent but he does have some flaws in his game and doesn’t possess the freakish athletic ability that makes the scouts all giddy..For that reason I bet he’s here until junior year at minimum.
On a side note has anybody on this board ever seen Otto shoot with his left hand? I sure have not..

espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7573678/counting-days-ncaa-tournament-begins-men-college-basketballFour players who could win a game off the bench 1. Michael Dixon, Missouri: The Tigers guard plays starter-like minutes (25.8) and is almost always on the court during close games. His basket in the closing seconds helped Missouri beat Texas in Austin and he hit some huge free throws down the stretch against Kansas. 2. Dion Waiters: The sophomore guard is arguably the top player on the deepest team in America. He plays just 23 minutes per game yet still manages to average 12.4 points. Also the team’s best on-ball defender, Waiters averages 2.1 steals. 3. Darius Miller, Kentucky: It says a lot about the Wildcats’ talent when an experienced senior such as Miller comes off the bench. His 9.7 points per game haven’t been nearly important as his leadership, as Miller has been a calming force on one of America’s youngest teams. 4. Otto Porter, Georgetown: The freshman forward has been one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2011 recruiting class. He plays 29 minutes off the bench and averages 8.8 points and 7.0 rebounds.

Not comparing Otto to Greg Monroe in any respect, except that Greg sure didn't possess freakish athletic ability but that did not stop him from going pretty high in the draft after 2 years (and from being jobbed from the All Star game in his second year in the pros).

Otto is more athletic than he looks at first blush. When the whole "is it crazy to think that Whittington has the most upside" discussion went on, my first thought was "of course he has the most upside - 6'9", athletic, could possible defend 2s in the pros and definitely 3s."
But I also thought about how quick Otto is defensively. He doesn't have the handle yet and he's not an NBA-level freak, but because he's so well rounded it's harder to notice his overall level of athleticism.
But he defends people on the perimeter very well. He plays the top of the zone a ton -- so he's helping on guards a lot. He jumps well enough to be a strong rebounder and he gets a ton of steals, so he's quick in the passing lane (steals tend to be one of the best indicators of a strong NBA player -- even bigs).

Pomeroy's similarity scores list these freshmen as the most similar to Otto Porter's freshman year to date:
'06 Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (UCLA) '10 Jake Koch (Northern Iowa), '09 Devin Ebanks (WVU), '07 Earl Clark (Louisiville), '09 Kevin Jones (WVU)
