So I have watched the last two games and I read a bit about him after he committed.
I just took a look at the season long stats on ESPN.com (http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/46/georgetown-hoyas)
This kid is special. We are going to enjoy his time on the hilltop immensely.

Otto Pippen, indeed: "Grandma passed away five years ago before the growth spurt that transformed him from point guard to power forward." "Porter has lived in Morley since the sixth grade, when he was a skinny kid playing guard. A five-inch growth spurt after the eighth grade transformed him into a different player," "Playing point guard at a younger age provided the ability to take a defender off the dribble and run the floor" www.stltoday.com/sports/high-school/boys-basketball/article_b8448e88-fd62-5f33-89b7-066cf98563d1.html

"The Tigers are the in-state school with the pop and power to land him, but they aren't the program closest to his home. Columbia is four hours from Sikeston, while Memphis coach Josh Pastner can complete the drive in under two hours. Porter said he'd like to visit Georgetown and Memphis. For a guy who hasn't strayed far from the nest, the Hoyas must seem like a world away. "Georgetown is a big school and I have a high interest in them academic wise," Porter Jr. said. "Memphis, it's the same with academics and they have a real good school." Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Wake Forest, Missouri State, Purdue, Xavier and most recently UCLA are also options for him. " "Otto Porter is the best player no one knows about": sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/news/story?id=6014589

I've only watched him twice, but really like what I'm seeing so far. He looks like the kind of multi-faceted, smart player that fits well in our system. Looking forward to seeing more!

Great kid too....super friendly and a great teammate. He and Whittington have been attached by the hip this trip. Saw them hanging out on the beach together and jump in the ocean. Seems to make sense that they come off the bench together at the 16 minute mark.

I really love this kid, but comparing him to Scottie Pippen is foolish. Pippen is one of the 50 greatest players of all time. Pippen was essentially a point forward and arguably one of the greatest wing defenders in the history of the nba.
I LOVE OTTO PORTER! might be the only reason to watch this team, but he is not Scottie Pippen. Does he kinda look like him? yes, but he don't play like him.

They both had a 5 inch growth spurt that transformed them from Point Guard to Small Forward. (of course Pippen's was much later. His growth spurt was as a freshman in college). Skillset wise they are very similar. Especially at the college level. I think he looks more like Derrick Rose, if I had to pick between Rose and Pippen. Bodywise and length wise more like Pippen though.

This kid is going to be a star. Whoever said on another thread that he's in the Jeff and Roy level as a freshman I think is correct. Different, but on that level. I love his midrange J.

It would be interesting to see how high he would have been ranked if he had done AAU. (He was #31 without doing AAU).

his not doing AAU helped Hoyas in getting him. Family first.

Sounds crazy to say already, but I hope he stays 4 years. We would be an extraordinarily lucky program. Go Otto! Go Hoyas!

Closest comparison I've got for him is Shawn Marion...he plays a lot like the Matrix. Can't get enough of Otto's game.

Also, Very impressed with Porter. I really like the attitude and heart these recruits have. I think we will go further with these kids than the last group.
