. The biggest problem is his size (5'11 160) and (last time I saw him) inconsistant outside shot. I haven't got a chance to see if he has progressed since high school, but at that time he had several Mid-Major schools recruiting him. To be honest I think the lack of a consistent outside shot would hurt him in the Princeton System. And also small ball has hurt us the last couple years in Big East play with rebounds and defense. A small guy like him would probably be a better fit for a Kansas or Gator style system.

On Pomeroy's similarity comparisons, after 7 games Porter is similar to freshman seasons of Gordon Hayward, Robbie Hummel, and Lavoy Allen.

I was re-watching the Alabama game and it's refreshing to see Otto out there on the offensive glass. He constantly runs and beats his man into rebounding position. It's what caused him to draw one foul (in which we got an extra possession) before getting pushed out of the way again - this time with no call (even though it probably should have been another extra possession). I bet his prowess is rubbing off on teammates.

I would love to see Otto take more of his open looks from 3. That said, the kid has all of the tools. Really, really like his potential. And if we have a "nose for the ball" guy, it's this kid. He's a ton of fun to watch.

He's a ton of fun to watch. From what it looks like to me, he's struggling with his shot right now. Ever since Maui it seems his shot is a little flat. Just about every miss is hard off the back of the rim, especially from behind the arc. I'd like to see him slip in and knock down some midrange jumpers to get his feel/confidence back.

Can't disagree at all. Nice assessment. I would want him to be encouraged to take those shots, hit or miss, in the preseason. It could help or it could fail horribly. But the kid has the skills. The only way to get his confidence up is to encourage him to take shots he should take and try to have a really short memory. If teams have to guard him beyond the 3 point line with all of the rest he brings to the table? Watch out. He has the ability to be a beast.

I agree, Hoyas have 3/4 options offensively at all times. This is the new version of the Hoyas. No weak links. Otto usually lets game come to him. Otto needs to be more aggressive.

Does HoyaBlue still make playing cards for each player like last year? Can I buy low and trade a vintage Benimon and resurgent Sims for an Otto Porter?

Yeah sonnn!!! 14 and 14! Way to get that double double and that was all from fighting for the rebounds! Great game from him and he came to play! Was that his father right behind the bench?

Included in those numbers were -- after Ville ran off an 11-0 run to tie the game with 2 minutes to go IN THEIR HOUSE! Porter ran off 6 of last 8 GU pts and 4 of last 5 GU Boards in last 2 minutes! He also had most minutes on team. That kid is fantastic. He is going to be one of the all time great Hoyas! Oh, and I think we don't have to worry about the PG spot for a couple of years either.

We have not had anyone who can rebound like that in a long time. Knocking down those FTs showed great composure. This kid is just tremendous.
