The most incredible aspect of those figures continues to be Fordham's performance. Not only can they not buy a win - a one-score win over what is likely the second-worst team in D-I excepted - but they can't even get their whole team from the Bronx to West Point for the game. Oh, and apparently their SID mixed up the gametime by three hours in their official releases. At this point, they probably need to appoint a Special Inspector General for Fordham Football Reconstruction. Any program that spends > $5 million and still manages to lose to Division II Assumption College - on its own Homecoming, no less - has got to be guilty of gross mismanagement. On the flip side, if anyone around here knows of someone who is looking for a professional challenge and knows how to do more with less, McD is hiring: Job Number: 2011-0936R Job Title: Associate Athletics Director for Business and Finance Department: Athletics Grade/Level: 13 - - Date Posted: November 03, 2011 Duties And Responsibilities & Minimum Requirements: The Associate Athletics Director for Business and Finance is the Senior Business Manager for the Athletics Department and has oversight for the fiscal management, including business operations of the entire department. Who has Michael Lewis's phone number? Or, Hell, I'd be fine with Feinstein reviving his love affair with all things underdog/Patriot League to get the story out.

What's the going rate these days? A GU-13 equates to a starting salary of $57k-$100k, I believe. I'm sure we'll get a very good mid-career professional with a CPA or MBA for that kind of money.

Haha, yep, this is "Moneyball," FCS-style. My suggestion? If we want to do more with more, make a donation to the Gridiron Club at the conclusion of the season. Money talks, and every little bit counts. And be sure to leave a note, something along the lines of "wanting to help contribute to the continued success of Georgetown football (including facilities)."

CAHoya has a very logical point. Every little bit does count. Please, visit the football site to make whatever size donation you are comfortable with. Even setting up $10 a month auto charge to your credit or debit card will go a long way for the program and hopefully you'll barely notice that $10. If you have any questions that you can't find answers to on the website, please feel free to email me at mikeyro09@mac.com and I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction. I know that times are getting tough for everyone and I certainly do not want to tell anyone how they should spend their hard-earned money, but I think trying to set aside 5 or 10 bucks a month to help build momentum for our program and help create a common sense of pride amongst our entire alumni base is a solid investment that really shouldn't put a huge dent in anyone's pocketbook. Think of it as something like..."put down the latte once a month, help build the Hoyas."

After a few years of giving $25 or $50, my wife and I shifted $100 (or maybe $200) of our required season-ticket donation toward the Gridiron Club. I hope the success of the team will encourage many more to think to donate toward football as well!

To put the football budget in perspective. The swim teams at MD lost about 1.5 million last year. In other words MD swim teams lose as much as our total football budget.
