That we played real defense back in the day. Was there anything else of substance to comment on?

This guy is a real center, I mean PE Sr type of center. What is PE Sr type center supposed to mean? He's got potential, but it takes a lot more than potential to be compared to Patrick Ewing.

For those who do not understand AJ's Kentucky reference: www.ukfans.net/jps/uk/Statistics/Games/19840331Georgetown.htmlBut when most teams rely on their scorers to get back into a game, Georgetown counts on tightening its grip defensively, forcing turnovers and poor shots . What it did to Kentucky in the second half today was almost sacrilegious, given the proud tradition of the school that treats basketball as if it invented the sport. Georgetown overwhelmed the Wildcats with a 12-point outburst at the start of the second half and kept them scoreless for the first 9 minutes 56 seconds.

I think most people know what he's referring to, but its the grammar that was the issue.

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER call ANYONE a PE type of center again. He was the greatest collegiate center of all time and it is unlikely anyone will put more fear into opponents again.
I'm sure this kid is great though and I do hope we get him.

This guy is a real center, I mean PE Sr type of center. Air, If what you mean is that Anthony McClain is an agile, shot-blocking, defensive intimidator I can accept that. Alonzo Mourning was considered a "PE Sr type of center " in HS, too. Personally, I don't take that as an insult in any way. Regarding Patrick being the greatest collegiate center of all time, well, as a longtime Hoya fan even I'm not certain that's true. Among others, I remember seeing Alcindor force the NCAA to ban the dunk in an effort to minimze his impact on the game. His response? He developed one of the most unstoppable offensive weapons ever devised -- the sky hook. Before that, his freshman team whipped the UCLA varsity (for those too young to know, in those days freshmen weren't eligible to play on the varsity). Of course, he and his classmates went on to win three straight NCAA titles. There are others I saw play and could name. I missed Mikan, Chamberlain and Russell as a collegians, but I can imagine they were outstanding then, too. I love Patrick as much as anyone, but let's be real.... Here's hoping McClain: 1) Really does have the goods and 2) If so, he becomes a Hoya Why not be Big Man and Small Man U?

Bill Walton was half-decent also, if I recall. I got stuck picking up my mother-in-law from the airport and missed the second half of the Gtown - Kentucky game. I have never seen it on ESPN Classic. It was fun to listen to on the radio.
I think when asked JT said the best game his team ever played was the Gtown - Oregon State game in the Western Regional final Patrick's freshman year. Oregon State was on a long winning streak and had won many games by very comfortable margins until they met Gtown. After the game-- the headlines read "the Beast of the East is the Best of the West". Sleepy, Patrick and the rest were outstanding.

That was a direct quote from Brent Mushberger, I'm sorry if it is not to sone of your taste or liking. As far as this guy goes I'm not saying he is the Ewing that we saw at Gtown, I'm saying he is about or ahead of Ewing when he was in High School. Thats all I'm saying, sorry to make you guys all upset did not know you were so sensitive and all.

Maybe you did so you are able to make a comparison, but I saw this kid play once and though he has great potential he doesn't bang much yet and I wasn't all that impressed. For a sophomore in high school playing AAU, lots of potential was the biggest thing I saw, but its still hard to compare him to Ewing in any way.

Ewing was an animal in high school. Every big-time school in the country wanted him. Mike Jarvis was his high school coach, and GW's coach Karl Hobbs was his High School teammate. Ewing was one of the best centers in college of all-time in terms of his impact on the college game, and helping bring college basketball, march madness, etc. to the forefront of sports entertainment.

People need to be less literal on this site. I am sure it was just a reference to the kids potential. I almost thought that this board was the christian coalition taking literal phrases and skewing them to fit your argument. RELAX and give the kid a break.
