With news that the football schools are committed to the Big East who should the possible targets be? I would go after Kansas and Kansas State. The selling point to these two schools is that Big 12 is down to 8 teams after Missouri and Texas A&M leave. It is only a matter of time till Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech leave so be aggressive and move now.

In my dream/magic scenerio the ACC takes Texas the Big East magically adds Kansas, Kansas st/Memphis then add a few of the U.S forces schools for football only getting us to 12. Somehow convince Notre Dame to take an ACC offer giving the ACC 16 teams add one more basketball only just to help us out down the line then kick Uconn out at the end of this musical chairs game. The ACC would be full and in my dream so would the Big 10(whatever they are). Don't worry we would take them back after they begged for a whole summer because they have no where else to go and we do need their profile for basketball. However, after Calhoun retires and they sink into basketball oblivion they would officially be booted.
Alas, they will probably end up in the ACC and the five more unbearable teams in the country to cheer for will rule the most unbearable conference in the country to watch...

Umiversity of Houston should be considered. An acceptable football program and what seem to be an improving basketball program and another major media market.

I think Temple made a case for themselves in football yesterday. I wonder how Nova would feel about having a cross town rival for basketball?
As far as who else we should add, I would like it to be in geographical relevance to another current BE team. Houston is pretty far out there, but if TCU does agree to come, they would work well with them. UCF could be a good partner for USF. I still think the service academies in football would be a good option. Memphis would be a better addition for our basketball league but their football is not very good.
As its been mentioned, I hope that we are going to a few of the ACC schools and ask how much they enjoy being third fiddle to Duke/UNC and now Pitt/Cuse too.

Among many others, target the ACC - and try anyone and everyone there. Probably not going to happen but why not draw a few beads of sweat from them.

Hmmm, I wonder how the Wahoos are feeling about their conference -- and their place in it -- these days?
On the other hand, UVA sucks. Not at everything, but football and basketball yes.
Hey, it would give us continued reason to hate the color orange....

Nice in theory, but the time for targeting the ACC was last yr or 5 years ago--its too late--that would have required self confidence, bold and proactive behaviour, and strategic thinking. None of which are in long supply at Gtwn or our BE conf partner schools. Gtwn in particular is extremely cautious(afraid of its own shadow)-not saying its our fault, unfortunately just not in the schools nature to be bold about pretty much anything, certainly since Healy has been gone.

Air Force. And if travel costs are a concern, maybe they can give our teams a lift out of Andrews AFB on C-130s.

Time for the Big East to reign itself in geographically. I don't understand the march to the West. Add Temple--a solid addition in both football and basketball and a natural rival to many of the current Big East teams. Add Memphis-- great in basketball and no worse than Syracuse in football. Add either East Carolina, SMU or Houston along with Central Florida--all of whom are as good or better than what we lost. SMU, Houston and UCF are all in strong television markets. Nothing replaces Syracuse and Pitt in basketball right now, but this is all about football right now and all of these programs would either equal or upgrade what the BE is losing.

Maryland would be great just so we could kick their butts twice a year in basketball (which is all I care about) but they would never leave the ACC. too much history with the other schools there. but UMD and GTown could be a great annual rivalry in my opinion

Not sure if this is clutter or if it should go in one of the 8,765,908 other conference threads, but the A-10 is going to the Barclays Center, so I hope the BE can lock down MSG- es.pn/nsuXeY

You gotta think they'll move to the latter half of the week, like us, no? We're going to have one conference tournament in Manhattan, another in Brooklyn at the same time. We should definitely be pushing some "NYC Basketball Week" thing to ESPN.

why would ND want to play FB in the BE? Who are the teams with national recognition? USF ? Rutgers? Even though USF did beat them in the home opener.

We need to quickly make our decisions and try to get a larger pool of $$$ to keep our remaining teams and stop the poaching; if we can't, we won't attract new schools and can turn our attention to a bball-only conference.

They actually already play a lot of big east and if we added the service academies then half the teams they routinely play would be in the conference. They'd be able to play the rest of the rivalries OOC.
