I don't think enough of Lee Reed to say yes to that. I think we have a Cleveland State level AD funnily enough.

Is that just wild speculation by that blogger or is it actually their goal? I mean, they are fairly close to FBS football.....

I don't see why the ACC would have any interest in taking a flyer on a Nova football team coming up to standard. Why? To add Philly? Not sure that brings enough to the table, even assuming Nova had loads of money to invest and showed even the remotest possibility of being able to put 40K fans in a football stadium. Temple is almost more interesting to the ACC I would guess if Philly was that important. Of course this whole bringing cities into the fold thing may be a thing of the past. The ACC /Pac12/Big10 will essentially be pro leagues with national scope I think.

I think the best thing Georgetown could do in the short-term is pair up with Nova and beg the ACC to take them on as #17 and #18 in Basketball. The Big East proved last year that a 16-team bball conference is not only sustainable, but capable of putting 11 teams into the NCAA tournament. No reason a 18-team conference, split into North-South divisions, couldn't be equally successful. Access to the DC and Philly markets are the biggest selling points. I know it is a longshot, but the AD should show some vision and try to present a financial arrangement to the ACC that will guarantee's Georgetown's "stability". Sitting on our hands and hoping the Big East can survive is what led to this mess in the first place.

think its a massive long shot but I can't see why it isn't worth a shot- unless the very act loses us the more likely basketball only schools we need to be planning with immediately.....

Of course we'd love to be in the ACC. Playing against similar schools like Duke, Wake, UVA and BC. Rekindling old rivalries with Cuse and Pitt. And oh by the way, epic crosstown rivalry with UMCP. It'd be better than the Big East at any point in the BE's history.
But we've got about 1 x 10 ^ -10% chance of being invited. Nova is in the same boat as us. They do not have a football program that is attractive at the I-A level. Maybe if they had decided to jump to I-A a decade ago they could have built their program up by now, but I doubt it considering they're a relatively small school and a Villanova football team would be about as popular in Philly as Temple's football team.

Access to the DC and Philly markets are the biggest selling points. I am a broken record on this but people keep bringing it up *shrug*: Access to the DC Market is not something the ACC is searching for. They have it. They have Maryland who delivers the market much better than we do. VA Tech football and many other ACC teams have as strong a presence in DC as we do. Hell, Syracuse's DC contingent is roughly the size of ours.

Why would they water down what will be (unfortunately for us) their total dominance as a college hoops program in the greater DC market? Do invitations have to be unanimously approved?

I'd love to be in the room for this one. The ADs and their Presidents have known for over ten years that this day was coming. I honestly can't believe that any of them are really that surprised. Hopefully with the years to prepare they already have a couple of options ready to go.I can't see them striking out on their own at this time and forfeiting the significant buyout revenue that may be coming.

My goodness. Nova is our most-like school. We can't leave their side. (I hate saying this, but its true)

(I hate saying this, but its true) I think the only way Nova gets to the ACC is as a 16th team with the idea they do football eventually. And that would only be after the ACC is turned down by ND and they don't want Rutgers. (This assumes UCONN is gone).

Nova football in 2011 is 0-3 including getting crushed by Temple and Towson st and losing last week to....wait for it....Monmouth. They also share with us the issue of there really being no feasible way for them to put up BCS-sized football crowds. A good friend of mine is a Nova alum and big basketball fan. I was surprised when he told me he really wouldn't give a damn if Nova went IA, he would still only really care about the basketball team.
