Well, we had two special guests play for the Tombs today: Steve Francis and Lonnie Baxter. Crawford also showed, but Giubunda didn't.
Final score was 100-88 (I think they messed up on the scoreboard at the end). With 2 NBA players we probably shoulda won by more, but whatever.
I'm really tired, so I think I'll let someone else recap and then just post any different thoughts I had.
Peace.

This speaks to the inroads being made back into the local area by the new staff. Good signs.

DAN... I agree with you. That kind of buzz and excitement spreads rapidly. Makes GU seem like a happening place.
Another small step, but in the right direction.

I hope we didn't have any GU players playing in the same game with Stevie Frnachise and Baxter -- that could be an NCAA violation. I remember a few years back watching the games go on (late as usual) and it got so sloppy that the college leage ran into the pro league and pros were warming up with college players. Coach Riley or Ronnie came over and pulled Victor (I think) out of the warmups so he wouldn't be playing with the pros - coach was very serious about it too.
I think it's some sort of NCAA rule violation to play with professional atheletes.

NCAA Rules under the subpart 12.3 (contained in the PDF document linked below) govern permissible competitions where non-professional summer league teams have members who are both amateur (collegiate) players and professional (NBA or NBDL or Euro) players. It's not a violation to mix it up and have college players compete with or against pro players on a summer league team. I didn't take the time to see if there had been any recent rules changes to allow for such a "mix" but my impression is that the NCAA mostly follows the Benjamins and doesn't want to see many of them end up in college players' pockets. www.ncaa.org/library/membership/division_i_manual/2003-04/2003-04_d1_manual.pdf
