Very worried about Louisville, but we're due to win one. Big Man U wants you, Mr. Upshaw.

Kansas State signed Laimonas Chatkevicius from Lithuania. He is a 6 10 center. Could mean something... also with the louisville scholarship situation unsettled, our chances seem to be getting better.

I'm all for prepping for the long term battles vs. the UNC's, UK's and now Az's of the world. These schools have a bunch of size coming in and I think GU needs to get ready for OOC play, tourney play and BE play. The addition of Upshaw would position the Hoyas as one of the biggest, longest and more physically imposing teams in the country. Much like the old days.

He oozes potential and seems to have the drive to get better, from what I hear. Has also shed a bunch of weight.

Considering Roy could barely run when we got a hold of him and now he is arguably one of the top 5 centers in the NBA....can't imagine what we could do with upshaw. We'd make him an NBA lottery pick for sure.

I think the staff did a great job of developing him but lets not minimize the work that has to be done by the person themself.

Since blueandgray quoted id's statement that Upshaw reportedly has the drive to get better, I kind of assumed he was talking about what our staff could do with a kid(like Roy) who already has that motivation.

And much like we SHOULD be... from JT2's teams to JT3's early teams. That Final Four team was 6'8, 7'1, 6'9, with 6'8 Patrick Ewing as the sub. We def need a kid like Upshaw coming in next year next to Moses and Tyler. If we can somehow get Upshaw and Andrew White? awesome. If we get Upshaw and wait a year for Tory Williams? Also awesome.

Does anyone know what the chatter on the Louisville board is like with regard to RU?

Moses is a guy who could not earn a minute last year despite obvious weaknesses in the front court the second part of the season. Now he'll be coming off a serious injury if he recovers from it at all. We need to pretend he doesn't exist and get a quality center to complement the freshmen, who also happen to be totally unproven. Lubick will get it done but at the PF spot and in foul trouble more often than not.

Yeah, some Louisville posters even recognizing that he probably fits in better at Georgetown. I really want Upshaw. A legit center, ranked top-50 nationally with skill and a willingness to work hard? Yes, please. While it's always tough to predict what's important to a recruit, I have to think (hope) that we are well-positioned here. Of Upshaw's final four, we have by far the best history in getting bigs to the NBA. And we very likely will have plenty of playing time available at the 5. If there's one thing this roster is going to need next year, it's post-play imo. Who knows what to expect from Moses. He'll be coming off a serious injury and will have essentially zero game-experience. I liked Adams in Kenner but I think he has a ways to go and he's been hurt twice already. Plus, this is Georgetown. There's just supposed to be a 7 footer out there.

that gets me thinking. Moses off of an injury and Adams seemingly injury prone. If healthy, all three would battle for minutes at the five.
1. Adams 2. Upshaw 3. Moses
1. Nate 2. Hopkins 3. Bolden
1. Otto 2. GW 3. White
1. Jabril 2. Bowen 3. DSR
1. Starks 2. Jabril 3. DSR
Really thin at point.

I mean we have guys that can play there, but i rather they play there as secondary options. For primary, we need guys with length. It is jus the gtown way. I think one can argue that we have not experienced success since we had a true 5. Greg, as talented as he was, was not a C. He had the size to play it in college but definitely not the mentality. Havent had one since Roy and what a coincidence, that is the last time we made ANY noise!

I just hope he continues to slim down and get in shape, so he can run the floor and keep up with these athletic wings GU has.

But if he just plays good D, rebounds and makes great outlet passes, that would be good enough for me. Let the greyhounds do the running.
