I'm just curious what everyone is thinking about the lockouts in the NFL and the NBA. I remember sometime very early in the year, someone making the suggestion that we might very well miss some NFL action this upcoming season -- if not even the entire year?! I was extremely doubtful to that view, even to the point of claiming naivety of the author. Now it's looking more and more like we will miss at least some part of the scheduled "season," if not even some of the regular season. My questions for you all are:
1. Do you see any "real" loss of season? (A preseason week doesn't count)
2. Who do you see "giving in" so to speak? (players or owners)
3. As for the NBA -- and I admit that I haven't followed their arguments much at all -- do you see this dragging on and costing any part of the regular season, or more?
4. Who do you see "giving in" as far as their issues are concerned?

I don't see that much of a loss of a season for the NFL, preseason and maybe up to 4 reg season games.
The NBA on the other hand is ready to lockout the entire season.
Damn you NBA, I want my new official Wizard's hat.

For what it's worth, the talking heads are now -- once again -- saying that the NFL owners and players are "close" and that a deal is in the works. I'm not sure who it was, but one guest on Dan Patrick's show today said that he expected a deal to be reached very soon, and training camps to be running by the end of next week. I have a hunch that maybe this will be the time, but didn't we hear pretty much that same thing at least twice already??? I guess I'd better not hold my breath.

We'll make sure to stop you before anything serious results. ;D
